What to expect at Portland's inaugual Kadabra Con

The inaugural Kadabra Con will hold celebrity guests, cosplayers, performances, a rave, a haunted house and more in Portland from Friday through Sunday.

The new anime-gaming-comic-cosplay convention will be held at the Portland Community Center.

Tickets are $25 Friday and Saturday; $10 Sunday; $40 for a weekend pass; and $10 for the rave. The event is free for kids 4 and under Friday and Saturday, and free for kids 12 and under Sunday.

Photos with individual celebrities range from $80 to $99. Group photos — such as actors from the "Power Rangers" series, actors from the "Star Wars" series or voice actors from "Avatar: The Last Airbender" — will range from $99 to $400.

Cosplay Contest

The Kadabra Con Main Cosplay Contest will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Contestants must have altered or constructed more than 50% of their own costumes to qualify for placement. If the outfit was made by someone else, that person must be present at pre-judging and the competition.

Contestants must sign up online before pre-judging. Interested cosplayers can sign up at bitly.ws/VPKx.

Competitors who do not check in for the start of pre-judging at noon Saturday will be disqualified. Slots are first come, first serve for pre-judging.
