Starbucks announces new pumpkin spice beverage
Fall is just around the corner, which means the beloved Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks is back by always popular demand. This year not only do pumpkin spice fans get to enjoy their iconic treat earlier than ever, but a new drink is being offered as well. Starbucks is releasing the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, and it could become even more popular than the latte. This is the first new pumpkin-flavored item Starbucks has introduced since it launched the PSL in 2003. Due to the sizable number of Starbucks customers who drink cold coffee year-round, the beverage recipe and development team worked to find a recipe that could be enjoyed cold as well. According to the company, the new fall-flavored drink is made up of “Starbucks Cold Brew and vanilla, topped with pumpkin cream cold foam and a dusting of pumpkin spice topping.” The iconic PSL and new Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew are available in stores starting Aug. 27.
Chanel makes history with its first transgender casting for campaign
Fashion house Chanel made history this week, casting its first transgender model to front an ad campaign. Teddy Quinlivan is the new face of Chanel Beauty. Before coming out as transgender, Quinlivan had walked runways for Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Gucci. Quinlivan expressed her gratitude in an Instagram post about how meaningful and important this campaign is for herself and for the trans community with regard to representation in the beauty and fashion industry. “I had walked 2 shows for Chanel while I was living in stealth (stealth meaning I hadn’t made my trans identity public yet) and when I came out I knew I’d stop working with some brands, I thought I’d never work with the iconic house of Chanel ever again,” she wrote. “But here I am in Chanel Beauty Advertising. I am the first openly trans person to work for the house of Chanel, and I am deeply humbled and proud to represent my community.”

Expect a ‘polar coaster’ this winter: Farmers’ Almanac forecast predicts a harsh winter ahead
The Farmers’ Almanac released its annual extended forecast for the winter season of 2019-2020, and it’s looking harsh. The forecast is predicting a long, “freezing, frigid, and frosty” winter, calling it a “polar coaster.” Last year the prediction was for a long, snowy winter, which turned out to be the case. Farmers' Almanac editor Peter Geiger told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that he believes the area around the Great Lakes will “get the worst of the worst.” The freezing temperatures will be part of the polar coaster, along with heavier-than-usual rain, sleet and snow. This year’s winter forecast also anticipates a much later start to the spring season. Expect the coldest temperatures to be in late January, similar to last year’s polar vortex.
Michael Jackson’s daughter slams ‘pedos’ and ‘molesters’
Michael Jackson’s daughter, Paris, slammed “pedos” and “molesters” who she says are trying to gain credibility by attempting to be part of the LGBTQ community in a tweet on Monday that has since been deleted. The 21-year-old, who identifies as bisexual, wrote that she doesn’t “condone f***ing children or animals at all and will NOT consider you my brother or sister.” It’s unclear what prompted her comments, which were made on the same day the MTV Video Music Awards omitted her father’s name when presenting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award to Missy Elliott. This week also marked the release of Dave Chappelle’s new Netflix special, in which the comedian controversially expressed doubts over the allegations made against the late singer.
