What to expect from the 2024 Celebration at the Station concert:
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Are you looking for a fun activity to do for Memorial Day weekend this year?
Well, you’re in luck because the Bank of America is hosting ‘Celebration at the Station‘ — a free concert open to the public Sunday evening on the North Lawn of the World War I Museum and Memorial, and the South Plaza of Union Station.
50k expected for ‘Celebration at the Station’
About 50,000 people are expected to spread out on the grounds and attend the free concert, hosted by Jim Birdsall, on Sunday.
According to the KC Symphony, 20 local food trucks and vendors will begin their services at 4 p.m. followed by a pre-show concert with live performances from A La Mode and the Roots in Blue Air Force Band.
Then, the main act will start at 8 p.m. with patriotic songs from the Kansas City Symphony, including crowd favorites ‘Armed Forces Salute,’ the ‘1812 Overture’ with live cannons, and a grand finale featuring a stunning fireworks display.

EXTRA INFORMATION:
PARKING
Multiple surface lots are open for parking during the event, including garages around the event site. An example of an open lot is Union Station’s West Yards Garage and surface lots near the Hallmark complex, south of Crown Center.
Most parking is $20. Union Station’s West Yards Garage only accepts credit cards. Some lot operators only accept cash. It is advised to bring both a credit card AND cash, just in case.
Parking is permitted only in designated parking spots. Parking on the grass in private and public land, including Penn Valley Park, is not allowed.
Attendees can also park anywhere along Downtown KC’s streetcar route and ride the streetcar to the concert. The streetcar will also be running on a special Memorial Day schedule so you can get back to your parking place after the concert event.
The designated drop-off/pick-up and ride share lane is along the south curb of eastbound Pershing Road, just before Kessler (accessed from Broadway Boulevard).
