The Expanse Is Finally Getting the Kick-Ass Action Figures It Deserves
Much-loved sci-fi TV series The Expanse had so much going for it, with memorable characters navigating high-stakes space action as well as often tense personal relationships. But the one thing it didn’t have, besides a seventh season (sigh), was a set of action figures. Beltalowda, that’s all about to change.
Launching March 1, a Kickstarter campaign aims to bring Expanse action figures, officially licensed by Alcon and created by Nacelle, out of the dreams of fans and onto their toy shelves. io9 is thrilled to debut images of the prospective figures, which include James Holden (played on the show by Steven Strait), Naomi Nagata (Dominique Tipper), Amos Burton (Wes Chatham), Chrisjen Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo), Camina Drummer (Cara Gee), Bobbie Draper (Frankie Adams), Detective Josephus Miller (Thomas Jane), and everybody’s favorite blue meanie, the Protomolecule Hybrid. They come with 18 points of articulation, and the accessories—the precise attention to detail—are so, so good; you can tell these sets were designed by diehard fans.
Here’s a teaser video hyping up the March 1 launch (sign up to be notified when it’s live here), followed by images of the figures as well as rewards for the campaign’s various stretch goals. If the campaign is successful, the figures are estimated to ship in early 2025.
All 8 Figures
All 8 Figures
James Holden
He comes with a coffee cup (of course), as well as a Star Helix pistol, an MCRN rifle, and a Canterbury duffle.
James Holden Packaging Example
Like the figures themselves, this packaging is a prototype provided as an example.
Amos Burton
Amos comes with a backpack, a Star Helix pistol, an MCRN assault rifle, and a bottle of Casa de Lola tequila.
Naomi Nagata
Naomi gets “one interchangeable head with a helmet, one interchangeable hand, a bone density kit, a wrench, and a Pur & Kleen water bottle.” The willingness to launch herself into space without said helmet, to save her loved ones, is implied.
Chrisjen Avasarala
Our favorite glamorous yet swears-like-a-sailor Earth mother comes with “her hand terminal, whiskey decanter, injectable medicine, and office name plate.” (The photo of her son is part of an accessory package coming up later in the slideshow.)
Camina Drummer
Drummer comes equipped with “McGlenton’s Scotch, an MCRN assault rifle, a first generation Martian pistol, and two hand grenades.”
Roberta Draper
Bobbie gets a supply of cucumber sandwiches, along with her MCRN pistol and rifle, plus “a welding tool and an interchangeable head with a helmet.”
Detective Miller
Space gumshoe and sometimes space ghost Miller gets a spare head with his trademark hat, as well as “his trusty Chiappa Rhino 50DS, a hand terminal, and a hamster with their hamster wheel.”

Sort of a “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” situation, but also a “teamwork makes the dream work” situation too.

Diehards, this set is aimed at you; it includes all eight figures, the engraved stand, and “an extremely limited edition replica set of the decanter and glasses that were given out to the cast and crew at the wrap of the iconic series (don’t worry, they’re life-sized)!” BYO 24th century booze.
