KITTERY, Maine — The Beavis Frank Gallery announced the introduction of the newly appointed Artist-in-Residence, Carson Jackson. In celebration of the reopening, Jackson will unveil his latest captivating series, ‘Dance of the Untamed.’ This extraordinary collection delves into the innate human yearning for freedom and exploration and presents a striking display of multi-dimensional abstraction, where vibrant shades of yellow harmonize with an interplay of captivating shapes and textures.

As the son of a Cuban refugee, Jackson has embarked on an exceptional journey, transitioning from a thriving career in Interventional Radiology to the realm of artistry, emerging as a source of inspiration. Renowned for his distinctive style and creative expression, Jackson brings a unique fusion of personal history, worldly exploration, and medical precision to his art. His creative process stands as a testament to the transformative power of art, skillfully interlacing a vibrant tapestry of human experiences that deeply resonate with each viewer.

OGUNQUIT, Maine — The Ogunquit Art Association (OAA) – Maine’s Original Artists’ Group | est. 1928 – is celebrating their 95th Anniversary in 2023 with a variety of exhibitions, gallery talks, demonstrations, workshops, and more at our Barn Gallery headquarters (located at the corner of Shore Road and Bourne Lane).

This exciting new season of art exhibitions and programs by artists of the Ogunquit Art Association continues with our Mid-Season Exhibitions running through Saturday, July 29.

Join the barn Gallery on Saturday, July 1, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. for a “Gala Reception for Mid-Season Exhibitions”. Admission to the reception is free and open to the public.

The Mid-Season Exhibitions will feature: “OAA Expressions” (an exhibition with a wide variety of subject and medium); Regional Artists: An Open, Juried Show (featuring artwork by members and non-members of the Ogunquit Art Association – Juror: Kat Zagaria Buckley); our Expanded Collectors Gallery (featuring ready-to-hang artwork, no larger than 16×20 — and all priced no higher than $850); plus an Invited New England Sculptors exhibit in our outdoor Sculpture Court.

Although there is no substitution for seeing art in person, virtual versions of exhibitions will be made available on barngallery.org. Also, much of the work exhibited will additionally be shared the Barn Gallery Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Barn Gallery’s 2023 Season will run through Monday, Oct. 9. Come see original art by the finest, local artists in an iconic, light-filled gallery.

PORTSMOUTH – Strawbery Banke’s popular open-air concert series, Tuesdays on the Terrace, returns to the Museum every Tuesday evening through Aug. 29. The line-up includes eleven local musicians and bands who will perform for guests on the Kennebunk Savings Terrace from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The public is encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets and food and beverage, including beer and wine, are available for purchase.

“Tuesdays on the Terrace has grown over the years to become a wonderful event that members and the community look forward to every summer,” said Linnea Grim, President and CEO, Thomas W. Haas Endowed Chair. “There is something for everyone as the performers are so talented and diverse, and there are even two concerts specifically created with kids in mind,”

This year’s schedule includes many new and returning “Tuesdays on the Terrace” artists including:

The Seasmoke Trio: Live at the Kittery Art Association

KITTERY, Maine — Join the Kittery Art Association on Friday, July 7, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. for a night of live music, as a part of our Summer Sizzle Series at the Kittery Art Association.
