‘Excuse me’: Trump repeatedly clears throat moments after boasting about his health

Only a few days after returning to the White House, President Trump phoned into “Hannity” Thursday night and provided an update on his health. The president announced last Friday morning that he tested positive for COVID-19. He was flown later that day to Walter Reed military hospital where he was given a cocktail of cutting-edge drugs and oxygen. Since his return to the White House, the president has repeatedly boasted of his health and touted the newly developed drugs he was prescribed. And while Trump’s doctor, Sean Conley, insists the president is doing well and experiencing no symptoms from the virus, viewers couldn’t help but notice the president coughing and clearing his throat during his interview. The president also avoided Sean Hannity’s questions about whether or not he has tested positive for the virus. Despite his apparent symptoms, the president says he’s hoping to have another rally as early as Saturday.

SEAN HANNITY: Will you encourage your supporters to get out and vote early?

DONALD TRUMP (ON PHONE): Well, I want them to vote, but I will say this-- absentee is OK, [CLEARS THROAT] because absentee ballots-- [CLEARS THROAT] excuse me-- absentee ballots are fine.

KYLIE MAR: Only a few days after returning to the White House following a hospitalization caused by the COVID-19 virus, President Trump phoned into "Hannity" Thursday night and provided an update on his health.

SEAN HANNITY: Have you been tested recently?

DONALD TRUMP (ON PHONE): Yeah, I just saw the doctors today. They think I'm in great shape. I'm in great shape. I know I'm in great shape.

SEAN HANNITY: Did you test negative?

DONALD TRUMP (ON PHONE): And I'll tell you, I took this Regeneron, it's phenomenal.

KYLIE MAR: But even though Sean Hannity and Trump get along well, the Fox News personality had to repeatedly ask the president about his recent coronavirus testing.

SEAN HANNITY: Have you had a test since your diagnosis a week ago?

DONALD TRUMP (ON PHONE): Well, what we're doing is, probably the test will be tomorrow-- the actual test, because there's no reason to test all the time. But they found very little infection or virus, if any. I don't know that they found any. I didn't go into it greatly with the doctor.

KYLIE MAR: And while Trump's doctor, Sean Conley, insists the president is doing well and experiencing no symptoms from the virus, viewers couldn't help but notice the president avoided answering Hannity's questions about testing, and that he coughed repeatedly throughout the interview despite being symptom free.

DONALD TRUMP (ON PHONE): Last time, I had a big problem. They oscillated my mic when I had the one debate-- we had three debates with Hillary and-- or, I think the first debate, [CLEARS THROAT] they-- excuse me-- on the first debate, they oscillated the mic.
