Yo-Yo and Treach reflect on Naughty By Nature’s historic Grammy win on an upcoming episode of Hip-Hop Treasures. In a teaser, the two musicians discuss the night in 1996 when the rap group took home the first Best Rap Album award.

“I’m mad I ain’t shine it up or nothing,” said the New Jersey native as he unearthed the golden trophy.

“We couldn’t even go on stage,” he remembered. “We got this backstage in a press lot.”

Naughty By Nature Grammys
Naughty By Nature attends 38th Annual Grammy Awards on February 28, 1996 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.

The monumental Grammy Award is just one relic recovered in the episode. According to the official description, Ice-T directs field collector Cipha Sounds to visit with the first rap recording group, Sugarhill Gang. In the process, Cipha attempts to obtain the original test pressing of the first rap record on vinyl, “Rapper’s Delight.”

Ahead of the aforementioned episode, the prior feature takes Cipha on a journey to track down artifacts from the legendary Hip-Hop group, Run DMC, while also paying tribute to the late Jam Master Jay. Additionally, Yo-Yo catches up with Soulja Boy and discusses the digital age.

Hip-Hop Treasures premiered last month and throughout the season, the team explored the narratives of CeeLo Green, Flavor Flav, Fat Joe, Master P, and more, gaining tangible items in the process. On-camera tributes also pay homage to DMX and Biz Markie. Hip-Hop Treasures also features Coolio’s last on-camera appearance before his passing in 2022.

The two new episodes of Hip-Hop Treasures are set to air on Saturday (Sept. 23) starting at 10 PM ET/PT. Watch a preview for an upcoming episode above and take a look at the series trailer below.
