Hello! Welcome to Mary & George, where the moms are manipulative and the sons are very good at being manipulated. If you’re not keeping up with the Starz drama, the third episode airs tomorrow, so there’s plenty of time to catch up. If you are watching, you’ll know that George’s whole deal right now is that he’s trying to get in good with King James (aka sleep with him), so he his mother can have more power. And in this exclusive clip from this week’s episode (which you can watch above), you’ll get an idea of just how well that’s going.

In case you are lazy and don’t want to actually watch, here’s a quick transcript of the convo:

Mary: What are you doing? You haven’t written for weeks. How is the King?

George: Don’t know. Somerset has had me too busy to know. What the fuck have you done with your face?

Mary: Busy doing what?

George: Anything low, away from James, so he and the Scots can toy with me, treat me like shit. They trick me. They hurt me. I don’t know where I’m safe or what to believe. What happened to Sir David? It was easier before he just vanished.

Mary: No, no, no, forget about him. He’s gone.

[Everyone laughs at George]

George: I played music in a veil for the King and Somerset and a few others while they were all...

Mary: What? Why?

George: I was told I was playing for a secret meeting between Somerset and the Catholic agitator. I know.

Mary: You are here to be close to the King, and that is what you must do.

George: I’m trying. The whole bedchamber is against me.

Okay! So basically, George is absolutely whiffing it. If you want to see where this whole story goes, you can watch the show on Starz.
