Sam Heughan spent most of season 1 of Men in Kilts playfully messing with his Outlander co-star Graham McTavish across Scotland, and their New Zealand adventure for season 2 is no different. The new season is only 4 episodes – insert Scottish sad face here, but it’s packed with Heughan and McTavish’s chaotic traveling energy. Sometimes it feels like the main purpose of the show is Heughan’s desire to torture McTavish on camera, with a side of travel, food, and cultural experiences built in. And of course, kilts.

One of the most entertaining parts of Men in Kilts is when Heughan and McTavish drive in their camper van together. McTavish complains about Heughan’s poor driving skills consistently, yet never offers to drive. Hmmm, maybe he likes being chauffeured by Heughan more than he’s letting on. Driving Mr. McTavish has a ring to it. In this deleted scene from episode 3, McTavish confronts his driver on how Heughan makes everything into a physical competition. Heughan suggests they do more cerebral competitions like counting light posts. Immediately, McTavish gets excited thinking he’s joking. But he is not. And soon McTavish regrets it, like most of the activities he’s forced to do while traveling with Heughan. Hard to tell how long Heughan subjects him to counting lampposts, but it seems like it’s multiple driving shots that end with McTavish repeating, “Please stop,” over and over. McTavish is probably thinking jumping off cliffs with Heughan might not be so bad, after all. Watch the exclusive deleted scene below and see for yourself.
