In an Exclusive New Interview Kel Mitchell's 'Dancing With The Stars' Partner Reveals What He Was Like On Set

The past season of ABC's hit reality dance competition series Dancing With The Stars has been one of the most electrifying shows on TV. The way the stars come out ready to impress the panel of judges with their shimmies and sways continues to build big ratings, with no signs of the popularity or momentum easing up anytime soon. Now since the show has concluded for the year the stars and dancers can take some time to enjoy the holidays and rest before moving onto their next projects.

Unfortunately for this season's winner, former Bachelorette contestant Hannah Brown, fans and even some judges were not very enthusiastic about her win. Even co-host Erin Andrews gave Brown major side eye after her win. And it didn't just stop there. DWTS judge Carrie Ann Inaba also expressed her shock as well. It's no secret the two of them had a rocky relationship during the season. And in an interview with US Weekly (via Showbiz Cheatsheet), she admitted her ambivalence about Brown's shocking win.

“To be honest, I don’t know if I had a specific idea [of] who I thought was going to win,” she told the publication. “I just knew that all four — and even all five, actually, even James [Van Der Beek] — could have been up here and it would’ve been great to see anybody win. It was just, for some reason, I don’t know why that was shocking.”

Inaba wasn't the only one thinking the outcome was a bit lackluster since Twitter users also believed someone else should have won. And that someone else is Kel Mitchell.

Mitchell had become a fan favorite, dancing into the hearts of millions of viewers as well as his dance partner Witney Carson. But what was Mitchell like to work with behind the scenes? In an exclusive interview with Pop Culture Witney Carson revealed that working with Mitchell was one of the highlights of her season.

"He's such an incredible, positive person. I think people see him as already this funny, positive guy, but he's really like that in person and he's just so uplifting,"

She continued;

"He was a great teammate. He constantly was calming me down in the chaos, which is so funny because I feel like a pretty level-headed person. But there were times in the season where I would get really stressed and he would just calm us down and he was super great about that."

And although they didn't win, Carson was still appreciative of the experience.

Carson adds that she's honestly very "happy about the dances and the routines and most importantly Kel's growth as a dancer," adding how she too learned so much in the past season and isn't mad at all. "I felt honored to be there,"

And their chemistry and excellent dancing left an impression on many viewers who were just as shocked as Carrie Ann Inaba and Erin Andrews.
