Exclusive: Fireworks Premiere Poignant ‘Run, Brother, Run’ Video

Fireworks are currently traversing America on the Glamour Kills Tour with New Found Glory in support of this year’s fantastic LP Oh, Common Life. The album is energetic and hooky but also poignant and reflective. For their latest music video, Fireworks focus on these deeper feelings, and the result is a heartfelt take on the slow-burning “Run, Brother, Run.”

“Run, Brother, Run is an important song to this band and myself personally,” says vocalist Dave Mackinder. “I think it’s one of the most personal songs we’ve ever written. Reflecting on death and the past can be equally as haunting as it is inspiring. I think from tragic situations comes unexplainable wisdom sometimes.”

In “Run, Brother, Run,” Mackinder reflects on his father’s death, which occurred when the vocalist was only 25. It’s an awfully sad song, but one that suggests a pop-punk band like Fireworks (now three albums into its career) is capable of growing up in a meaningful way.

The video was directed by John Komar and Mitchell Wojcik and filmed in the band’s hometown of Detroit.

For more punchy choruses and sincere memories, check out Oh, Common Life, which features other highlights like “Bed Sores” and “Files on Tape.” It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart and also cracked the Bilboard 200 (at No. 148), making it the first Fireworks album to do so.
