Exclusive Clip From 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them': Eddie Redmayne Tries to Cover Up a Magical Mess

We’re just two weeks away from the theatrical debut of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The first entry in a planned five-film franchise set in an earlier corner of the Harry Potter universe — 1920s New York City — it was conceived of, and written by, J.K. Rowling. And for those who can’t wait to get their full-length fix of fantasy and magic, we now have an exclusive new scene from the movie featuring Eddie Redmayne’s wizard pulling off a sleight-of-wand.

In the scene above, Redmayne’s Newt Scamander finds his No-Maj buddy Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler) injured in a decimated New York apartment that was apparently torn apart by one of the beasts of the title, which has escaped from his suitcase. Determined to hide this ruin from the eyes of fellow wizard Porpentina “Tina” Goldstein (Katherine Waterston), Scamander uses some nifty magic to put the ramshackle abode back together again before she can deduce that he’s responsible for losing another beast — a ruse that ultimately doesn’t work out exactly as planned.

Providing an early idea of Scamander’s eccentricity and skill, as well as the rapport he’ll share with Goldstein, this Fantastic Beasts clip should only further excite those eager for a trip to the Land Before Harry, Ron, and Hermione. You can watch the exclusive scene from the film above, and catch Fantastic Beasts in theaters beginning Nov. 18.
