EXCLUSIVE: Brendon Urie on How His Wife Inspired Panic! At The Disco's New Album Title, 'Death of a Bachelor'
Panic! At The Disco announced their highly anticipated fifth studio album on Thursday, Death of a Bachelor – and lead singer Brendon Urie tells ET that the album title is "a throw out to my wife."
The 28-year-old musician sat down with ET exclusively to open up about the upcoming record and what fans can expect this time around.
"This whole album was written at my house where she and I live and it reflects very much the lifestyle I was living [while writing it], which is so different from who I used to be," Brendon explains. (You can also watch the interview in the player above.)
"This is just a signal of a new era where I'm finding myself as a producer and as a songwriter," he continues, "and just figuring out how to come into my own still, which is really exciting."

Brendon is the only member of Panic! At The Disco left from the band's original lineup. Ryan Ross and bassist Jon Walker cut ties with Panic! after the release of the band's second album, Pretty. Odd. Spencer Smith left earlier this year.
Brendon admits that he gets more comfortable and candid with his songwriting with each album, and the new album is full of stories that are all "confessional."
For him, the concept of Death of a Bachelor was the hardest theme to tackle.
" I never thought I was able to let go of the past," he shares candidly. "Just everywhere from touring to personal life. I mean, there's so many things that are involved, it's just been a smorgasbord of craziness for 10 years… and that was really talking about me as a single guy -- and now I'm married."
"It's just really cool to look back and be like, 'wow, that's so weird,'" he adds. " I never thought I'd be where I'm at today. it's kind of a throwback to it."

But don't worry -- Brendon is still the same party-throwing, ringleader, bag of fun that he's always been – and says this album will document some of his wildest memories.
"I like writing about parties –so a lot of this stuff is about parties that I've gone to where I'm trying to recall exactly what happened -- kind of in a hangover sense, trying to piece sense together and put it in a song. This is like my best recollection of parties that I've been do."
Brendon also reveals that one of his favorite tracks on the upcoming album is called "LA Devotee." "It's a love song about L.A. I've been here for almost seven years now and it's so cool to think about how far I've come as an individual and as an artist," he explains. "There's a line in there – 'the black magic of Mulholland Drive' - I'm just describing my favorite scenes of L.A. - things that I've done, friends I've been with – it's a poem to L.A."

As for the overall inspiration of the album?
Brendon says, "I love Frank Sinatra. He is one of my biggest all-time idols… This album is just chock full of Sinatra-esque inspiration."
