"It's our biggest episode yet, both [in terms of] scope and emotions -- the emotionality of it, the character development, the twists," creator Martin Gero tells ET. "A lot of people when they read this were like, 'Holy sh*t, is this the series finale?' It feels enormous. We had a great midseason finale last year and I think this has bested it."

The identity of the mole has been an ongoing mystery for Blindspot fans this season: Who is the double agent ingrained within the FBI? Luckily for viewers, that answer will be revealed in the midseason closer.

Is it Nas (Archie Panjabi), the newest head of the NSA's Zero Division? Is it Dr. Borden (Ukweli Roach), the unassuming FBI psychiatrist? Or is it someone else within the team?

"It's really split," Gero says of fans' guesses thus far. "There are going to be people who are going to be like, 'Yes! I've been right all along,' and the people who I hope will be slightly relieved that their choices were incorrect."

"It changes the dynamic of the show moving forward," he continues. "It's a big piece for us and one that we spent an enormous time on to really sell as to the why."

ET exclusively premieres a sneak peek from the fall finale, in which Jane (Jaimie Alexander) tips Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) off that Sandstorm's plan for Phase 2 is happening sooner than they expected. Watch the clip below.

Blindspot airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
