EXCLUSIVE: Abby Lee Miller Talks Life After Gastric Sleeve Surgery and Possible Prison Sentence
Following her sudden departure from Dance Moms, Abby Lee Miller is taking drastic steps for weight loss.
The 50-year-old dance instructor recently underwent gastric sleeve surgery, a procedure that reduces her stomach by 80 percent -- taking it from approximately the size of a football to the size of a banana.

Following the successful 45-minute surgery by Dr. Michael Russo at the Smart Dimensions Surgical Center, ET's Cameron Mathison sat down with Miller to see how she was coping.
"I'm in pain, not gonna lie," the former Dance Moms star said, while lying in a recovery bed. "Kind of in my mid-section, but it's not a burning pain. It's not a throbbing pain. It's just kind of a discomfort."
Miller, who is facing prison sentencing for fraud early next month, explained that she is now on a strict liquid diet for the next three weeks.
"They said to buy a shot glass," she joked, "and put the water and protein shakes and these little milk shakes in the shot glass and drink it one ounce at a time. So I'm just going to do shots for three weeks. That's my game plan."
The dance teacher also said that she would be open to other reality television ventures, perhaps documenting her weight-loss journey in the same manner as Mama June.
"I saw an interview with [Mama June] afterward," Miller told ET. "She still sounds the same, though. Was that not nice? I tried to say that nicely."
Miller added that through the surgery, she finally feels "in control" of her own life, especially after leaving the popular Lifetime reality show.
"I felt for seven seasons that someone else was in control of my life -- telling me when I could eat and what I could eat and when I could use the ladies' room," she admitted. "When you're so busy shooting 12 hours a day, you just eat what someone sticks in front of you. Now I feel a lot freer and more confident in my everyday activities."

The reality star is hoping this surgery will give her a fresh start.
"I think this is a good thing, and hopefully I'll be in the best shape of my life," Miller said. "That's what I'm looking for."
