Ewan McGregor Reveals His Part in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’
On Thursday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ewan McGregor explained that he is in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. However, you won’t see his face during the film. His voice can be heard at Maz Kanata’s bar as the deep depths of the Force reach Rey. He shares a line with the late Alec Guinness as Obi-Wan Kenobi. They both say, “Rey, these are your first steps.”
Ewan explained his path to being in the newest edition of Star Wars. He waited for nearly two years while The Force Awakens was being filmed to hear from the filmmakers. He said he thought, “Maybe they’ve lost my agent’s phone number.” Ewan eventually got a call from J.J. Abrams late in the production, asking him to do a short line.
How did they get audio of Alec Guinness saying “Rey”? It was stitched together from a previous recording of him saying “afraid.”
