Ewan McGregor’s Daughter Esther-Rose McGregor Channels French-Girl Glam in Celine Fragrance Campaign

The 22-year-old actress is the spitting image of her famous dad

Esther-Rose McGregor, the daughter of Scottish actor Ewan McGregor, is the face of Celine’s latest fragrance.

In the campaign imagery, the 22-year-old actress, model and tattoo artist exudes French-girl glam and sports a ‘60s-inspired beauty look while cradling a giant bottle of Zouzou by Celine.

The perfume is the 12th addition to Celine’s Haute Parfumerie Collection that began in 2019. It features notes of benzoin, tonka bean, patchouli, labdanum, vanilline and musk.

“I wished to create a perfume about utopic adolescence, capturing an ideal of eternal youth, the recklessness of the young French writer Francoise Sagan, the ingenue boyishness of Jean Seberg filmed by Jean Luc Godard, the magnificent heroines of the velvet underground, together with the young woman I was able to photograph for more than 20 years,” Hedi Slimane, Celine’s creative director, says in a press release.

Slimane, who also photographed Esther for the campaign, continued, “I called my new perfume for Celine ‘Zouzou,’ an affectionate and childlike nickname that appeared in the last century to describe a  young woman with short hair.”

Not only does Esther have the right look for the campaign, it’s also fitting that she’s half-French. Her mother, Eve Mavrakis, is a French production designer. Mavrakis and Ewan were married in 1995 and separated in May 2017 after 22 years of marriage.

Esther has been modeling since she was a teenager and in August 2018, appeared in a campaign for Fendi alongside her older sister, Clara. She’s also part of the two-person band French Thyme, for which she sings in English and French. The duo released a self-titled EP in August 2020.

Additionally, the star is a tattoo artist with her own business in New York City. As a student at NYU in October 2021, she spoke to the school's newspaper, Washington Square News, about her passion for tattooing.

"I want to enhance the way people look at themselves and make people feel more comfortable in their own skin," she explained. "In general, I think that my art has been a reflection of myself."

Esther has acted with her father, making a cameo as Tetha Grig in the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi. During a June 2022 appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Ewan discussed his daughter landing the role, calling her “brilliant.”

"I'm sure everybody thinks she got the job because of me, but really she didn't. She auditioned for the role," he told host James Corden.

"You don't really know with your kids until that moment when I was acting with her and it felt really normal and natural,” Ewan added.
