Everything You Need to Know About The 'Rogue One' Re-Release

While Marvel fans await the premiere of the next Disney+ series, She-Hulk, on Aug. 18, Star Wars fans have to wait a little longer for its next on-screen adventure.

Luckily, Disney has a treat in-store while you wait–one that will better prepare you for the premiere of Andor–and that's the re-release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The movie originally came out in 2016 and served as the introduction for both the character, Cassian Andor, and actor Diego Luna (who is also set to star in the prequel series on Disney+), into the Star Wars verse.

And now Disney has plans to re-release the smash box-office hit in select IMAX theaters later this month.

According to Fandango, the movie will play in select theaters on Friday, Aug. 26. The limited screening is also said to feature a sneak peek at the new Disney+ series, Andor.

Rogue One stars Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso–who teams up with Andor and a crew of other misfits to steal the Death Star plans for the Rebel Alliance.

The film takes place right before A New Hope in the Star Wars story timeline.

The re-release of Rogue One will perfectly prepare fans for Andor–a spy-thriller series that tells the tale of young Andor's days fighting the Empire and his journey to joining the Rebellion.

Disney's official synopsis reads: "The Andor series will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero."

Along with Luna, other Rogue One stars said to be returning for Andor include: Genevieve O'Reilly (as Mon Mothma) and Forest Whitaker (as Saw Gerrera); though more familiar faces might also show up.

These three stars join Fiona Shaw, Alex Lawther, Adria Arjona, Stellan Skarsgård, Alex Ferns, Denise Gough, and more for Andor; which is set to premiere exclusively on Disney+ on Sept. 21.
