French luxury fashion brand Louis Vuitton and Publishing house Assouline have collaborated to publish Louis Vuitton: Virgil Abloh, a limited-edition title that pays tribute to the life, influence and career of the late Virgil Abloh, the first African-American to become artistic director for Louis Vuitton menswear in June 2018 – an appointment that changed the course and values of the fashion industry forever.

Not only did Abloh start an unstoppable cultural shift towards inclusivity, diversity, and empowerment in the industry, but also a new era of luxury. The hardcover book, the first to be released since his passing in November 2021, celebrates through 359 pages and over 320 iconic images the creative polymath's legacy and persona.

Written by Anders Christian Madsen, the book also includes personal reflections from Abloh's inner circle, including Nigo, Kendall Jenner, Kid Cudi and Luka Sabbat. The title, split into eight chapters and the complete catalogue of the designer's sneakers, offers an in-depth exploration of Abloh's prodigious creative mind and unceasing dedication to equality in art and design.

"As a Black creative with no formal training in fashion design, no list of established fashion houses on his CV ... Abloh saw himself as an infiltrator in high fashion: a true outsider who would become a groundbreaking figure," says Madsen in an exclusive press release. The title is also accompanied by quotes from Virgil Abloh himself, and in-depth captions that contextualize every stage of his journey at Louis Vuitton.

The hardcover book is available in two collectable covers, priced at $120 USD each. The first one featuring the emblematic red balloon that flew across Louis Vuitton's SS22 spinoff show, and the second one displaying a sports cartoon artwork by Reggieknow, who illustrated Virgil's SS21 show. An "Ultimate Collection Box," priced at $1,200 USD, has also been released – inspired by the container installation from the SS21 menswear show

The three editions of the Louis Vuitton: Virgil Abloh title are now available to purchase on Assouline's webstore.
