Everything We Know About Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie’s Daughter, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt

Is it just us or was it, like yesterday, when Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie jetted to Namibia to give birth to their first biological child together? In real-time, of course, it’s been a minute — Shiloh Jolie-Pitt turned 14 on May 27. And based on what we know about the teen, it sounds like she is growing up to become a super-cool and interesting person.

Granted, much of what we know about Shiloh (or any of the Jolie-Pitt kids, for that matter) comes from secondhand sources or public interactions with their parents. None of the kids have social media, which is pretty impressive in this day and age, right? So, it can be tricky to discern fact from fiction. However, for the relative secrecy surrounding the Jolie-Pitt brood, little snippets about the children’s personalities have surfaced. From the time Shiloh was an infant, she has been in the spotlight. Because of that, we’ve been able to glean a few facts about the now-14-year-old that hint at how amazing she is (a chip off the old mom-and-dad blocks, you might say).

To that end, we decided to do some more digging to bring you fun facts about Shiloh you probably didn’t know before. Spoiler alert? If you weren’t already a big fan, you will be now.

She’s technically an expat

Shiloh has largely been raised in the U.S., but she wasn’t born on U.S. soil. Around the time of Shiloh’s birth, Jolie had been spending a lot of time in Africa with her work as a UN refugee ambassador. Long story short, she fell head over heels for Namibia, and she and Pitt chose to bring baby Shiloh into the world there.

Her name has a special backstory

Not only does “Shiloh” sound beautiful, but it also has a beautiful meaning, too: “peace, abundance or Messiah.” But rumor has it this gender-neutral name has even more significance in the Jolie-Pitt family. Although we can’t find a direct source to substantiate this claim, it’s said that Shiloh was the name originally chosen by Jolie’s late mom, Marcheline Bertrand, for her first baby — the one she miscarried.

Her nickname is (or was) “John”

Speaking of names, Shiloh isn’t the only moniker this teen has gone by. Chatting with Oprah Winfrey back in 2008, Pitt revealed that Shiloh had picked out a different name for herself at that time. “She only wants to be called John. John or Peter, so it’s a Peter Pan thing. So, we’ve got to call her John,” he shared. How cute!

She’s a wax record-holder

What does that mean, you ask? Well, you’ve obviously heard of Madame Tussauds world-famous wax replicas, right? Shiloh boasts a unique claim to fame on that front — she was the youngest person ever immortalized by the wax museum when she was depicted as a two-month-old with her famous parents.

She’s already made her screen debut… sort of

The question on many fans’ minds when it comes to the Jolie-Pitt kids is whether they’ll follow in their parents’ acting footsteps. And, as it turns out, Shiloh has already gotten her start. In 2008, she played a baby in Pitt’s time-twisting movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Then, in 2016, she recorded some animal noises used in the animated hit film Kung Fu Panda 3.

She recently underwent surgery

Although we don’t know all of the details, Jolie revealed that both Shiloh and her older daughter Zahara have gone under the knife this year. “I have spent the last two months in and out of surgeries with my eldest daughter, and days ago watched her younger sister go under the knife for a hip surgery,” Jolie shared in a March op-ed for Time magazine. “They understand that going through medical challenges and fighting to survive and heal is something to be proud of.”

She’s BFFs with another famous Hollywood teen

Further proof that Shiloh is one of the coolest kids in Hollywood? She routinely hangs out with Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown, 16. Along with big sis Zahara, Shiloh has been spotted all over Los Angeles with her pal, from grabbing a quick bite to just strolling the streets.

She might be a Daddy’s girl

Sources say Shiloh is super-close to both of her parents, but it’s clear that she and Pitt have a special bond. For starters, she is practically a young-Pitt-doppelganger. Have you seen his yearbook photos? Twinsies. But also, a source said on Shiloh’s 14th birthday, “Brad is so proud of Shiloh and who she has become. He loves that she always stays true to herself and is so good to her brothers and sisters.”
