After a long wait and a ton of anticipation, we finally know who will star on The Bachelorette Season 21! Jenn Tran will be the next leading lady, after her time on The Bachelor Season 28 led by Joey Graziadei. While some viewers were surprised when Jenn was announced as the Bachelorette, she is an amazing choice for the role.

Jenn is well-rounded and brings a lot to the table! Without further ado, here’s everything to unpack about our newest Bachelorette!

Jenn is Vietnamese American

Jenn is Vietnamese American, which she opened up to Joey about on The Bachelor. She explained to Joey that a potential hometown for her would look different from the rest of the women’s, due to her culture. Jenn explained that her mother had a hard time understanding aspects of American culture. Also, she had never brought anyone home before. This is relatable not only for Vietnamese Americans but many Americans with immigrant parents.

Jenn being cast as the lead of The Bachelorette Season 21 is a huge win for diversity in the Bachelor franchise. Neither The Bachelor nor The Bachelorette has ever had an Asian American lead, making Jenn the first. She has already opened up about what a huge step this is for representation, and she hopes to make younger Asian American girls proud.

Jenn is a PA Student

She is currently in PA school, to become a physician’s assistant. It is not every day that our Bachelor and Bachelorette leads are students. Jenn took a big step leaving for The Bachelor, and will take an even bigger leap of faith taking time away from school to film The Bachelorette!

It’s clear that Jenn is extremely hardworking, which is an important quality for any Bachelor Nation lead to have. Jenn is already successful in her academics and career, so hopefully after The Bachelorette, she will have the same success in her love life.

Jenn is 26

While Jenn was 25 when she filmed The Bachelor, The Bachelorette Season 21 lead is currently 26. This is a pretty average age for Bachelorette stars, although still slightly on the younger side. It will be interesting to see the average age of Jenn’s men, as typically older men are cast for the women. However, there will certainly be a few men who are the same age as Jenn, as well as some who will probably be younger.

Jenn opened up to Joey about her family dynamic

Jenn received the second one-on-one date on Joey’s season, where the two enjoyed the day surfing. Later on during the dinner portion of the date, however, Joey and Jenn had a more serious conversation. Jenn opened up about her parents strained relationship, which she struggled to witness for many years. Eventually, things got so bad that Jenn’s father began sleeping in the basement full-time.

As a result of the tensions in her family, Jenn also opened up about currently not having a relationship with her father. Jenn teared up while telling this story to Joey, and it was clear that it still carries a large emotional burden on her. Joey was incredibly supportive, so hopefully The Bachelorette Season 21 men will be just as understanding and comforting to Jenn.

Jenn was eliminated right before Hometowns

While we learned a lot about Jenn’s family on The Bachelor, we unfortunately never got to meet them. Jenn was eliminated right before hometowns, while Joey and the women were in Jasper, Canada.

Since Jenn never had a hometown date, it will be interesting to see how she navigates this week during her season. Most of the time, Bachelor Nation chooses leads who at least made it to hometowns, if not further. However, there have been Bachelorette leads such as Hannah Brown who did not make it to hometowns either, so Jenn will probably be fine.

On another note, it will also be interesting to meet Jenn’s family when she gets down to her final two men. On every season of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, it is typical for the lead’s family to meet the final two contestants. This means that Jenn’s final two suitors will almost certainly meet her family, which might be interesting since she’s never brought anyone home before.
