Since Survivor premiered in 2000, several players have been medically evacuated and some of their injuries have been downright scary.

Michael Skupin was the first contestant to be pulled from the game during Survivor: The Australian Outback back in 2001. On day 17, the software publisher fell into the campfire, which left him with severe burns on his hands. He had to be airlifted out of the game to get his wounds treated.

In the new era, Bruce Perreault hit his head against a wooden obstacle and began bleeding profusely during the first challenge of Survivor 44. While Bruce shared he was alright after being examined, his head began to hurt later that evening, and was forced to exit the game.

After the March 2023 premiere, the longtime host revealed on the debut episode of his podcast, “On Fire with Jeff Probst,” that Bruce was officially invited back for another season. Bruce got his second chance the following season and made it to the merge.
