Anne Hathaway is best known for starring in some of our favorite films, from nostalgic hits like The Princess Diaries and The Devil Wears Prada to more emotional fare like Les Misérables and One Day — but she also deserves major kudos for her red carpet looks. The actress has been consistently dazzling us at movie premieres for over 20 years now!

Through her long Hollywood career, Anne has wowed in everything from vintage couture gowns to sleek pantsuits, and we can't get enough of her style. Here are 33 photos of Anne Hathaway on the red carpet at her movie premieres, from 2024's The Idea of You to 2001's Princess Diaries.

2024: The Idea of You

Anne celebrated the New York premiere of The Idea of You in a strapless red Versace gown and a chic high ponytail. She got emotional while discussing the audience's positive reaction to the film. "We really made this movie for everyone, and to feel everyone love it? I haven't had that feeling in quite the same way since The Princess Diaries," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "Now I'm 41 and I know how to appreciate it."

2023: She Came To Me

Anne is very fond of Valentino, so it's only fitting that she chose a transparent black gown from the designer to wear to the Berlin Film Festival premiere of the rom-com She Came To Me. She accessorized the look with elbow-length black gloves.

2023: Eileen

In an attempt to stay warm at the Utah-based festival, Anne paired a corseted Versace puffer with a sleek little black dress and chunky black boots. She told A-Frame that her performance in Eileen was inspired by old Alfred Hitchcock films, adding that she took additional cues from actresses like Katharine Hepburn, Monica Vitti and Patricia Neal.

2022: Armageddon Time

After several years of virtual premieres (she hosted her own very glam virtual red carpet for her film The Witches in 2020!), Anne stepped out in a white two-piece Armani Privé gown for her Cannes Film Festival debut. "I noticed that a lot of my favorite actresses had their first experience [at Cannes] wearing all white," she told People. "So that was what I did."

2020: The Last Thing He Wanted

In The Last Thing He Wanted, a political thriller based on a novel by Joan Didion, Anne plays a reporter who gets caught up in a government conspiracy in Central America. For the film's Sundance premiere, Anne opted for a printed dress and a Western-inspired belt.

2019: The Hustle

Anne's love for the "female buddy comedy" lived on a decade after Bride Wars with The Hustle, a remake of the 1988 film Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Pictured here in a beaded Elie Saab jumpsuit at the premiere, she told The Hollywood Reporter that joining the project was an easy decision because she had long wanted to work with co-star Rebel Wilson.

2019: Serenity

Five years after they teamed up in Interstellar, Anne reunited with Matthew McConaughey for Serenity, a thriller about a boat captain whose ex-wife enlists him to murder her new husband. For the film's premiere, Anne paired a flowy patterned skirt and a sleek black turtleneck with a bold lip.

2018: Ocean's 8

The actress wore a Jean Paul Gaultier gown to the star-studded New York premiere of Ocean's 8. Although she said her portrayal of an egotistical actress wasn't based on anyone in particular, she had a blast with the role. "To let it all go and lean into all of the ridiculous fame nonsense that I've been trying to side step for all of these years felt really fun. To play someone who had such an enormous ego and someone who takes herself so seriously and is so insufferable came very naturally to me," she joked to The Hollywood Reporter.

2016: Colossal

Colossal's ambitious premise required a bold look, and we think Anne nailed it with her vintage Armani Privé gown. She told Vogue that she had decided to wear a mix of archival and vintage pieces for the film's press tour in an effort to minimize her consumption. When her gown proved too difficult to sit in, she swapped it for an Oscar de la Renta dress from the 1970s.

2016: Alice Through The Looking Glass

The Alice: Through The Looking Glass premiere marked Anne's first red carpet appearance after giving birth. She chose a custom Christopher Kane gown to mark the occasion. "You should have seen me arrive," she joked on Ellen. "I'm like in my sweats and hair out to here, I've got the kid under one arm, like there's a dress right? There's grooming? Oh thank goodness."

2015: The Intern

Posing here in a one-shoulder gown at the New York premiere, Anne told Variety that she chose to audition for The Intern for one very sweet reason: She knew her in-laws would love to see her star in a Nancy Meyers film! She also revealed that she had auditioned for several of movies written by Meyers prior to landing the role of a fashion start-up CEO alongside none other than Robert De Niro. Third time's a charm!

2014: Interstellar

Oh! Another one that's vying for the title of our favorite. Anne's midnight blue Richard Nicoll gown echoed Interstellar's out of this world themes. At the Los Angeles premiere, she told Variety that viewers could expect to "have their minds bent and their hearts opened" by the film.

2014: Rio 2

Pictured here in a blue and orange asymmetrical look at the Miami premiere of the animated sequel, the actress revealed that she suggested some key tweaks to her character after reading the script. "She's not a person, she's a cartoon 1950s housewife," she told CBS News. "We went back in and the story became a lot more about the inherent compromise in marriage and making each other happy and making choices for your family."

2014: Song One

Anne pulled double duty at the premiere of Song One: In addition to starring in the film, she produced it alongside her husband Adam Schulman. In an interview on Today, she revealed that she initially had no plans to star in the film until she realized that she "had a crush on her character." In order to make it work, screenwriters decided to "age up" the character.

2012: Les Misérables

Later that year, Anne wowed in a Tom Ford ensemble complete with a dramatic slit and elaborate heels. Anne told Entertainment Weekly that performing the song "I Dreamed A Dream" in the film "was like splitting yourself open, and not as much being naked as letting your innards be seen." To no one's surprise, she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her turn as Fantine.

2012: The Dark Knight Rises

The A-list actress made sure to show off the details on the back of her white Prabal Gurung gown at the premiere of The Dark Knight Rises, where she flaunted her pixie ahead of her role in Les Misérables. "You know how you have those jobs and you just go, 'I don't know how I'm going to work again because this was such fun,'" she told Variety about her experience working with director Christopher Nolan.

2011: One Day

Okay, this one might be our favorite. At the New York premiere of One Day, Anne wore a black and gold Alexander McQueen dress. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she compared her character to a butterfly. "Butterflies go through a horrific transformation process," she said. "It's enormously painful for them in the cocoon, but at the end they emerge and they're changed and beautiful."

2011: Rio

Perhaps Anne was inspired by the blue macaw she voiced in Rio while choosing her premiere outfit? She finished the look with a pair of playful black-rimmed glasses.

2010: Love and Other Drugs

In an interview with The Guardian, Anne said the sexuality of her character scared her. "I'm much happier talking with people than I am flirting with them," she said. "I'm pretty shy and not entirely comfortable with the kind of attention you get when you focus on your sexual side. I was afraid that I couldn't pull off playing Maggie." Not only did she pull off the role, but she stunned on the red carpet in a sequin shift and landed a Golden Globe nomination for her portrayal!

2010: Alice In Wonderland

Anne dazzled in a brown sequined Vivienne Westwood gown and a smokey eye at the world premiere of Alice in Wonderland. We'd like to think the eye makeup was a nod to her character, the White Queen, who she described as a "punk rock vegan pacifist" who "really likes the dark side."

2010: Valentine's Day

Anne's role in Valentine's Day marked the third time she worked alongside Garry Marshall, who directed the Princess Diaries films. "When he calls, I just say 'When do I show up?'" she joked to Fandango. For the film's premiere, Anne chose a blue mini with feathered detailing.

2009: Valentino: The Last Empire

For the New York premiere of the documentary Valentino: The Last Empire, it was a must to wear a dress by the famed designer, of course. (Who wouldn't want to anyway?) Anne happens to be a huge fan of the label and has worn their designs to many other red carpet events.

2009: Bride Wars

To celebrate her role as a bridezilla sparring with her best friend, Anne landed on a black suit and gold peep-toe heels. In an interview with ScreenSlam, she said that she wanted to work on the film because she had never seen a "female buddy comedy" before. "I just loved the idea of having two actresses squaring off in the center of a big comedy," she said.

2008: Rachel Getting Married

For the Los Angeles premiere of Rachel Getting Married, Anne paired a patterned Oscar de la Renta dress with a bold red lip and vintage-inspired hair. In the movie, she portrayed a recovering addict. "I've found a lot of confidence thanks to this role," she told CinemaBlend. "That level of honesty and self-representation has deepened my relationship with people I love in my life and has made my life better. Even if Kym's not with me anymore, her lessons are."

2008: Get Smart

Anne chose a classic black gown for the Get Smart premiere in Madrid. The actress said she was surprised by how much she enjoyed her first foray into action films. "Agent 99 is probably as different a role from my own personality as I've ever played and just getting to come to work every day and be kickass and hot — characteristics that I don't come by naturally — was a lot of fun," she told Marie Claire UK.

2007: Becoming Jane

To celebrate the premiere of Becoming Jane, Anne wore a black sheath dress with a hint of sparkle. She revealed that she was initially wary of portraying Jane Austen, saying, "I’ve been obsessed with Austen since I was 14 and I didn't want to take the part at first because I felt there was a very good chance, as there is with every role, that you're just going to mess up and be horrible and unwatchable," she told The Big Issue.

2006: The Devil Wears Prada

We have a hunch that Anne's red gown at The Devil Wears Prada premiere is an homage to the movie's iconic poster, which features a red stiletto! She told Vanity Fair that she learned a great deal about acting from watching her co-star Meryl Streep on set. "I was such a sponge around her," Anne said, "I just wanted to absorb everything the way she did."

2005: Brokeback Mountain

Anne told People that her role in Brokeback Mountain was "a sharp left" from the "very sweet, nice path" she was on. At the premiere, her red carpet look also took on a more mature edge when she chose a mesh gown accented with sequins.

2005: Hoodwinked

Anne is a pro at dressing down her red carpet looks with a tall boot, as seen here at the Hoodwinked premiere. She voiced Little Red Riding Hood in the animated film, which turned the classic fairy tale into a police procedural.

2004: The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement

Pictured here with her on-screen grandma Julie Andrews at the United Kingdom premiere, Anne once again chose a layered look. She told Vanity Fair that she learned valuable career advice from Julie, especially when it came to interacting with fans, saying, "I've learned that I want to handle myself in a way that I’m going to be proud of at a later date."

2004: Ella Enchanted

Anne's Ella Enchanted premiere outfit was truly a masterclass in early 2000s fashion. The actress wore a pink floral dress over jeans, and finished off the ensemble with a pastel patterned coat. Although she got to show off her singing voice in Ella Enchanted, she told Blackfilm that she had no plans to pursue a musical career: "Singing is something I love but I'm not passionate about. When I do it, it's just for fun. I don't want put a price tag on it or pursue it in that way."

2001: The Princess Diaries

For her first movie premiere, Anne chose a mauve midi, which she accessorized with sling backs and simple jewelry. In a 2024 Vanity Fair interview looking back on her career, Anne said that The Princess Diaries changed her life. "I was 17 years old when we made this and so, I hadn't met as many people yet in my life, so I knew [director] Garry Marshall was really special and I knew Julie Andrews was really special, but now sitting here watching this from this point of view, they are two of the most magical people I've ever met," she said while rewatching clips from the film.
