Here's a ranking of the best 'Gossip Girl' Thanksgiving episodes, from worst to best

The CW

Gossip Girl is known for dishing out drama, especially during its Thanksgiving episodes.

During the course of its six-season run from 2007 to 2012, the CW series became well-known for its special holiday episodes.

Not only were they filled with fashionable moments (including Blair Waldorf’s iconic Marc by Marc Jacobs dress in season 1) but you could always count on something big to go down on the Upper East Side. (Who can forget that epic throwdown at the van der Woodsen’s house set to Jason Derulo’s “Whatcha Say”?).

Thankfully, with all the episodes streaming on Max, revisiting your favorite moments is as easy as pie. If you want to relive all the drama, feast your eyes on the best Gossip Girl Thanksgiving episodes ahead, ranked from worst to best.

“Gaslit," Season 4

After getting drugged by Juliet at the Saints and Sinners ball, Serena makes a distressing 911 call and is admitted to the hospital for an overdose. Believing that Serena is up to her old habits, Lily makes the decision to admit her daughter to rehab against her will. As Serena's family and friends are shaken up about the news, Jenny and Vanessa grapple with their own guilt about the situation after they teamed up with Juliet to bring Serena down.

Though there are plenty of helpings of lies and betrayal, the episode is a bit of a slow burn, with the action picking up in the following episode as Dan and Blair team up to track down Juliet.

“The Magnificent Archibalds," Season 2

As Blair gets her head around her mother’s new boyfriend Cyrus (and the new family traditions that come with that relationship), Serena bites off more than she can chew when her new boyfriend finds out about her wild past. Meanwhile, the Archibald family gets a huge shock when Nate’s dad comes out of hiding.

Though the episode includes plenty of sweet family moments for the Waldorf and Archibalds, the drama served is pretty dry in comparison to other episodes.

“It’s Really Complicated," Season 6

In the final Thanksgiving episode of the series, the entire gang comes together as Dan and Serena host their very first holiday dinner as a couple. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Thanksgiving dinner without some uninvited guests, including Serena's ex; Bart and Lily; and Georgina. However, things really heat up when the final chapter in Dan’s book is released — and it’s a scathing piece about Serena.

The episode includes all the fixings of a classic Gossip Girl Thanksgiving episode, from witty one-liners to an epic face-off that really packs a punch (literally), putting it smack dab in the middle of our ranking.

“Blair Waldorf Must Pie!,” Season 1

After Dan and Jenny’s mother returns from Hudson, the Humphrey family tries to put the past in the past and have a cordial holiday together. However, those plans are quickly derailed when Serena and her family show up to dinner and Rufus and Lily’s past relationship is revealed. Elsewhere, Blair deals with her own family drama after learning that her mother uninvited her father from Thanksgiving dinner and she has a relapse in her bulimia recovery.

The very first Thanksgiving episode sets the tone for the rest of the series, from the fashionable holiday outfits to dramatic moments, cementing it into many people's must-watch list for the holidays.

“The Treasure of Serena Madre,” Season 3

The CW

The episodes feature a huge Thanksgiving feast at the ver der Woodsen home, where almost everyone has something to hide. For starters, Serena and Tripp not-so-subtly hide their affair in front of Tripp’s wife. Meanwhile, Dan tries to grapple with his feelings for Vanessa and Jenny learns Eric’s true colors. The dinner really reaches a climax when everyone’s secrets get put out in the open at the dinner table, all while Jason Derulo’s “Whatcha Say” plays in the background.

“The Treasure of Serena Madre” is truly the crème de la crème of Gossip Girl Thanksgiving episodes. Not only does it serve up some major drama, but just the opening bars of the song instantly make even the most casual fans recall the episode.
