Ever heard of a bathroom disco? This Kentucky chain is going viral for its funky remodel

When you get to one of their disco bathrooms, you will see a red button with a sign that tells you to not push the red button which, of course, you will press. Afterward, you will enjoy the potty while listening to a funky song and surrounded by colored lights and a disco ball.

A Kentucky-based convenience store chain is going viral and even making appearances on late-night television after making a bold décor choice by adding disco balls and dance party music to an unusual area: the bathrooms.

HOP Shops, a chain owned by Valor Oil, launched its bathroom discos in March 2023 and the remodels have become so popular, they've been featured by national outlets and even garnered a shout-out from comedian Jimmy Fallon during a recent "The Tonight Show" monologue on NBC.

"Pretty exciting," Ann Gilbert, the human resources and marketing manager for Valor Oil, said. "I think we're all excited ... all of our team members they just feel proud to be a part of something bigger than ourselves ... And it's something positive."

Upon entering, those making use of the facilities will see a red button with a sign that tells you to not push it. As you would expect, many have ignored that advice entirely and subsequently enjoyed answering nature's call while listening to a funky song and being surrounded by colored lights and a disco ball.

The bathrooms have grown so popular, one couple even had a disco bathroom wedding at the Verona, Kentucky, location on Wednesday to celebrate Valentine's Day, Gilbert said.
