Event on Feb. 22 will raise funds for Madison Village summer concert series

Feb. 8—Madison Community Improvement Corp. is taking an entertaining approach to help pay for its lineup of concerts that will occur later this year in Madison Village Park.

MCIC will sponsor a fundraiser for the summer concert series. The celebration, featuring live music and dancing, will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Feb. 22 at Standing Rock Farms in Madison Township.

Standing Rock Farms is a special event and wedding venue located at 7394 Ross Road. The property encompasses about 360 rural acres previously known as Boy Scout Camp Stigwandish, referred to as the north property; along with 40 acres across the road, referred to as the south property.

MCIC board member Dwayne Bailey said the organization was offered an opportunity to use Standing Rock Farms for an event by the venue's owners, Mike and Chelsea Pulubiak.

"They had attended the summer concerts and wanted to contribute in some way," said Bailey, who also serves as Madison Village administrator.

MCIC had planned to do a special wintertime event to kick off its annual fundraising campaign for Madison Village Concerts in the Park, and get people thinking about the yearly musical series, Bailey said.

So MCIC decided to book an event for Feb. 22 at Standing Rock Farms that will include music performed by Randall Coumos and dancing for guests; heavy appetizers by Trevi Catering; a cash bar; a chance auction, with prizes ranging from gift certificates to a 55-inch flat-screen TV donated by Meyer's RV in Madison Village; and a 50/50 raffle.

"We just thought this would be a fun way to shake off the winter blahs and start thinking about warmer weather and summer," Bailey said.

Tickets for the fundraiser are $25 per person and can be purchased at Madison Village Hall, 33 E. Main St., through Feb. 14.

Bailey said MCIC still will be conducting its direct-mail campaign, seeking financial donations and sponsorships to pay solo musicians and groups who play at the summer concerts.

Those concerts take place at 7 p.m. every Thursday during a stretch that typically spans June 1 through Aug. 31.

Entering its 30th year, the concert series coincides with Madison Village's Outdoor Market, which is going into its ninth year in 2024. The weekly market sessions take place from 5 to 8 p.m.

Both events are held in Madison Village Park, located at West Main and River streets.
