Soul food pop up

Chef Ava Demps, formerly of Mary and Martha's Catering, will be offering soul food for pickup on Wednesday, Nov. 29, between 2-4 p.m. All orders must be paid by Sunday, Nov. 26. On the menu are oxtails over rice and smothered pork chops, both served with cornbread, and a choice of two sides including mac & cheese, cabbage, corn pudding, and baked apples. New candy store in New Harmony

Capers Emporium kitchen store, gift shop and bakery has established a candy store located right across Main Street in New Harmony, Indiana. The name is Capers Candy & Cards. Inside you'll find modern and old fashioned candies, popcorn, cards, gifts and much more.

Day-after-Thanksgiving brunch in Henderson

The Farmer and Frenchman Winery and restaurant will host a Post-Thanksgiving pop up brunch on Friday, Nov. 24, from noon-3 p.m. The menu is a la carte and tickets aren't required. The regular menu will begin to be served at 4 p.m.

Make-A-Wish giveback

High Score Saloon, bar and arcade will be hosting a charity night for the Make-A-Wish Foundation on Thursday, Nov. 30, from 5-9 p.m. The $5 cover and all coins will be donated to Make A Wish.

New Honey Moon shop and roastery now open

Honey Moon Coffee Co. has opened their new West Side shop and Evansville Coffee Company roastery. It is the largest of Honey Moon's four coffee shops (other locations are at 612 Weinbach Ave., 20 W. Water St. in Newburgh, and 1211 Tudor Lane) and will contain corporate offices and storage. The menu will be the same as the other Honey Moon stores, with the exception of ice cream by JB's Barnyard.

Cajun pop-up now weekly

Jan’s Place Cajun pop-up restaurant has announced they will be serving seafood gumbo; chicken, okra and Andouille sausage gumbo; and spicy chili in individual, shareable, or family-sized portions every Saturday and Sunday at Expansion Joint Events Center from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. The pop up events will fund further business expansion. The menu will grow as business increases to include more Cajun favorite dishes.

The Expansion Joint Event Center is at 1400 Maryland St. Enter on the Columbia St. side of the building.

Dinner on the Bridge

The Old National Events Plaza will be hosting a Dinner on the Bridge on Thursday, Nov. 30, from 7-9:30 p.m. On the menu are baked Brie cheese, grilled vegetable salad with pomegranate dressing, smoked duck with haricot vert green beans and mushroom rice, and stone fruit and honeycomb donut bread pudding. Each course will be paired with a complementary wine from J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines. Tickets are $99 person. Seating is limited.

New tavern opens in Cynthiana

The Route 65 Tavern is now open in Cynthiana, Indiana. Head north for a menu of breakfast, wings and appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, chili, chicken and dumplings and more.

Salvation Army Thanksgiving

The Salvation Army of Evansville will host a Thanksgiving Festival on Wednesday, Nov. 22, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The free event is open to the public and means to provide a safe and fun Thanksgiving meal to members of the community who are of modest means. On the menu are turkey from Schnuck's smoked by Walton's, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls from Logan's Roadhouse, pie and dessert. There will also be a clothing giveaway, Shriners clowns, circus ticket drawings and more.

Community Thanksgiving meal at Sauced

Sauced will serve a free community Thanksgiving buffet in The Ballroom At Sauced from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Thanksgiving, courtesy of the Haynie’s Corner Arts District. Dishes will include roast turkey and all the traditional sides.
