German Christmas gift market and food

The Evansville Germania Maennerchor will host its annual Cristkindlmarkt on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Shop local, handmade crafts and enjoy a menu of German sausage chowder, beef barley soup, chicken noodle & brat soup plus bean soup, German potato salad, fried German bologna, bratwursts and more. Get a commemorative mug with hot cocoa, hot cider or Glühwein, a warm German wine with spices. There will be kids' crafts and pictures with Santa from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Day-after-Thanksgiving brunch in Henderson

The Farmer and Frenchman Winery and restaurant will host a Post-Thanksgiving pop up brunch on Friday, Nov. 24, from noon-3 p.m. The menu is a la carte and tickets aren't required. The regular menu will begin to be served at 4 p.m.

Sports bar reopens on Evansville's East Side

J's Sportsbar & Grill on Vann Avenue, which closed during COVID, has reopened with new owners and a menu of pub grub including fried appetizers, salad, chili, wings, burgers and sandwiches.

Cajun pop-up

Jan’s Place is a new Cajun pop-up restaurant serving seafood gumbo; chicken, okra and Andouille sausage gumbo; and spicy chili in individual, shareable, or family-sized portions. Barbecue restaurant becoming a food truck

Kenny’s Smoke Shack has announced that the barbecue business, which opened in October 2022, will be changing to a catering and food truck format. The current building on West Franklin street will be sold, but Kenny's will offer holiday catering from the building until then. The food truck should be operational by late Marche of 2024. New owners for old tavern

The Nisbet Inn has been purchased by the Strassweg family from Jim and Becky Harl, who have run the restaurant and tavern for 19 years. The sale and transfer should be complete by the end of the year.

Dinner on the Bridge

The Old National Events Plaza will be hosting a Dinner on the Bridge on Thursday, Nov. 30, from 7-9:30 p.m. On the menu are baked Brie cheese, grilled vegetable salad with pomegranate dressing, smoked duck with haricot vert green beans and mushroom rice, and stone fruit and honeycomb donut bread pudding. Each course will be paired with a complementary wine from J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines. Tickets are $99 person. Seating is limited.

New era for Newburgh ice cream and sandwich shop

The Rivertown Ice Cream and Grill in Newburgh has been sold to Adam Wathen, the owner of the Kool Shack and Paradise Pizza trucks. The business is closed for the season and will open in the spring as usual. Wathen has promised on social media to serve “same great ice cream” customers look forward to.
