Bourbon & Beyond

The Bourbon & Beyond festival will be held Sept. 14-17 at the Highland Festival Grounds at the Kentucky Expo Center in Louisville. Enjoy big-name live music, a bar with the world's best Bourbons including many rare batches, and exclusive discounts around Louisville with a paid admission. Single-day general admission tickets begin at $109.99 plus fees.

New Taco Bar Tuesday at West Side Mexican restaurant

El Charro Mexican restaurant has just added Taco Bar Tuesdays, beginning Tuesday, Sept. 12, from 4 p.m. until closing time. Diners receive three beef or chicken tacos for $5 and may doctor them up to their liking at the bar with rice, avocados, cilantro, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and more. The meal comes with a free piña colada or horchata.

Farmer and Frenchman hosts Bourbon pairing dinner

The Farmer and Frenchman will host a Bourbon Pairing Dinner on Friday, Sept. 15, from 7-8:30 p.m. On the menu is an arugula salad with roasted plums, pork belly and goat cheese; blackened cod over crispy Boursin cheese rice and collard greens; roasted suckling pig with plantain and sweet potato hash; and baked meringue with macerated strawberries, white chocolate, mascarpone cheese and pecans.

Each course will be paired with a complementary Bourbon or Bourbon-based cocktail.

Tickets are $90 per person with Bourbon pairings, or $73 per person without Bourbon pairings.

The "Lunch Box" to reopen inside Technical Center

The culinary program at the Southern Indiana Career and Technical Center will open its public lunch restaurant, the Lunch Box, on Tuesday, Sept. 12. The Lunch box is open Tuesday-Thursday from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m., serving cafeteria-style entrees, sides, breads and dessert. A meal is $8. Payment is in cash only. The menu is different every week.

The Southern Indiana Career and Technical Center is at 1901 Lynch Road.

Tiki Week at Mo's

Mo's House on Haynie's Corner will be hosting Tiki Week from Sept. 13-24. Rum-centric events include a free rum master class on Thursday, Sept. 14, beach bingo on Monday, Sept. 18, a Saturday brunch on Sept. 16, a rum pairing dinner with Schymik's Kitchen on Tuesday, Sept. 19, and lots more fun, live music, and activities. Dinner on the Bridge

The Old National Events Plaza will host a Dinner on the Bridge wine dinner on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 7-9 p.m. Four courses of food created by Executive Chef Noel Bilbro will be served, paired with wines from Caymus Vinyards in the Napa Valley of California. The evening will begin with a Passion Pear Spritz, and then you'll enjoy the Emmolo Sauvignon Blanc, Conundrum Red Blend, Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon, and Conundrum White Blend paired with, respectively, prosciutto wrapped asparagus with mozzarella cheese; pancetta & Gorgonzola salad with candied pecans; Gorgonzola crusted beef with Marsala, mushrooms, asparagus and mashed potatoes; and wine poached pears with burrata cheese and candied pecans. Tickets are $99 per person.

Best Neapolitan Pizza in Indiana found in Evansville

Pangea Kitchen was recently listed by the Washington Post as producing the best loved Neapolitan-style and second best beloved Detroit-style pizza in in the state of Indiana, according to their research and algorithm. We're so proud! Neapolitan pizza has a soft, pillowy thin crust and bakes quickly in a hot wood fired oven, while Detroit style is deep-crusted, baked in straight-sided pans and finished with fresh sauce ladled on top.

Porkapalooza

Porkapalooza will be happening at the Newburgh Senior Center on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 29 and 30, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The meat will be smoked by by the Newburgh BBQ Coalition. Full slabs of ribs are $35, smoked tenderloins are $15 each or 2 for $25, and quarts of pulled pork are $25. Orders must be placed before Sept. 27 and will be available for pick-up at the Senior Center on Saturday, Sept. 30 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Drive through lunches of a pulled pork sandwich, chips and a bottle of water will be available both days for $7.

Swine and Dine: Dinner on the River 2023 will happen at Audubon Mill Park in Henderson, Kentucky, on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 6-10 p.m. Enjoy a pig roast with all the fixings and live music by the Sweet Baby James James Taylor Tribute. SWIRCA Brewfest

The Southwest Regional Council on Aging and More will host its annual Brewfest on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 6-9 p.m. at the West Side Library park. Enjoy beer, wine and spirit samples, food, games, music, and much more. Early bird general admission tickets are $35. Designated driver tickets are $10. Must be 21 to attend.

Fall lineup at Wayback Burgers

Wayback Burgers has anounced a fall menu special lineup of a sweet Bourbon bacon burger, an apple pie milkshake, and funnel cake sticks with powdered sugar and chocolate dipping sauce that will be available only through Nov. 25.

Evansville Wayback Burgers locations are at 624 E Diamond Ave. and 115 Cross Pointe Blvd.
