Evander Holyfield talks about son in national championship game, toughest fight and more

The former undisputed heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield stopped by on the morning of the national championship football game between Georgia and Alabama to talk boxing with Yahoo Sports.

Holyfield’s son, Elijah, is a sophomore running back with Georgia. Holyfield talks about his son and the game and speaks at length about various topics in boxing in this wide-ranging interview.

He reveals who he believes his toughest fight was with (Hint: It’s not Mike Tyson), tells us his thoughts about Floyd Mayweather, breaks down the potential heavyweight title fight between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder and talks about his new promotional outfit, Real Deal Boxing.

Holyfield’s company is making its fighters do periodic brain health evaluations at Medical Arts Radiology in New York, and he discusses that as well as any concerns he may have about his sons getting concussions playing football.
