First, Wood posted on her Instagram story, “I have to have an actual live reaction of this. What the f—k! What the f—k! What the f—k!”
Then she posted a Christmas Day tweet (that’s since been deleted): “…#cats is actually worse than I thought it would be, And I already thought it would be horrible. But….I am actually speechless. Why would you change the choreography? I…am SPEECHLESS. It’s not the cast’s fault. Its…maybe the worst thing I have ever seen. Ever.”
Fandom writer Eric Goldman tweeted a reply to Wood, saying he felt like he was “on acid” watching the movie.
Wood replied (in a still-live tweet): “Totally! Like my life is not in danger, but I feel like I’m going to die.”
The big-screen adaptation of the Broadway musical cost a reported $100 million to produce yet has only raked in only $6.6 million ($15 million worldwide), according to Box Office Mojo. Plus, Cats only has an 18 percent approval rating among critics on Rotten Tomatoes, with 55 percent approval among audiences who saw the film.
