New Evacuations Ordered in Northern California as Beckwourth Complex Fire Grows

New mandatory evacuations were ordered across parts of Plumas County, California, after the Beckwourth Complex Fire burned a total of 24,525 acres – about 38 square miles – as of Friday, July 9.

The 670-acre Dotta Fire within the complex was 76 percent contained on Friday, while the 23,855-acre Sugar Fire, which was 11 percent contained, experienced “significant fire growth yesterday,” according to the Plumas National Forest.

The California Independent System Operator issued a statewide Flex Alert for Friday due to a “potential capacity shortfall on the electric grid.”
