Eva Marcille is the latest celebrity to be body-shamed over her appearance. The model recently posted a series of photos on her Instagram revealing her visible weight loss. Marcille made the decision to turn her comments off after receiving nasty feedback targeting her looks.

She captioned the photo with three angel wing emojis.

The former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star rocked striped pants and black bow top.

Some comments implied that Marcille was using drugs, which was the reason behind her sudden weight loss, while others believed it could be the stress from her recent divorce.

Marcille posted an Instagram Reel shortly after telling people to “Be Kind.”

The support from followers flooded in shortly after.

“I don’t think there was malicious intent I think most of the comments come from a place of concern… You are iconic and we love you. Keep your life private but please get help if this is something serious… that’s all. We need you here,” one user wrote.

“If you’re not in a position to help someone be kind enough to not hurt them,” another suggested.

Earlier this year, Marcille filed for divorce from her husband, Michael Sterling, after four years of marriage. The former “America’s Next Top Model” winner filed paperwork stating their marriage is “irretrievably broken.” Initially, when she filed, Sterling made it clear that he would fight for his marriage and family.

“This has been one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make, but sometimes life takes your journey in a direction you were not expecting,” Marcille told PEOPLE. “Our children remain our biggest priority, and the eight and half years we have spent together will always be cherished. We ask that you respect our privacy at this time.”

Marcille was seeking legal and primary custody of their children and child support. Furthermore, she asked for support with “care and maintenance” and medical costs.

Marcille and Sterling share two children: Michael Sterling, Jr., 4, and Maverick Sterling, 3. Marcille has a daughter – Marley Rae – from her previous relationship with ex Kevin McCall.

The Trouble with Body-Shaming Celebrities

Body shaming remains an ongoing issue in our society with celebrities, who so find themselves in the public eye, often facing some of the harshest criticism. Despite their fame and success, or maybe because of it, public figures face intense scrutiny over their appearance. The cruel act affects the targeted individuals and sets unrealistic expectations for fans and young followers. Judging celebrities based on their appearance can have lasting negative impacts. Empathy should instead be prioritized when reacting to a celebrities physical appearance.

Perhaps one of the most heart-wrenching cases where rushed critiques were made is that of Chadwick Boseman. The late actor, best known for his role as the Black Panther, faced harsh feedback when he appeared smaller than usual at public events. Critics and fans alike speculated about his health, diet, and professional commitments. Tragically, Boseman was privately battling colon cancer, which was revealed after his untimely passing. The shaming he experienced underscores the problem of making assumptions based on appearance alone.

Tami Roman

Tami Roman, a prominent figure in reality television, has faced her fair share of public body shaming. Her weight has fluctuated throughout her time in the spotlight, drawing both media and public attention. Critics have not hesitated to offer unsolicited advice, making assumptions about her health and lifestyle choices. Some even implied that she suffered from eating disorders based solely on her appearance.

During an episode of “Basketball Wives,” Roman opened up about her battle with diabetes after being body-shamed by her castmate Evelyn Lozada.

“I’m a diabetic, okay? So for me my weight is very serious. I finally decided to take charge of my f**king life so that I can live for my kids and my man, and so because of that I lose weight. I’m 48 years old. You know what I’m saying? So this is how my body reacts to me making proper choices with my diet,” she told Jackie Christie.

Roman also addressed the questions around her appearance in an interview on”The Real.” During the conversation, Roman revealed that she suffers from Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD). According to the Mayo Clinic, the disorder is a mental health condition in which you can’t stop thinking about one or more perceived defects or flaws in your appearance.

‘I was diagnosed in 2008. I had to go to therapy. And anybody that has this disorder has to go to behavioral therapy because they have to unlearn things that they have been channeling within their mind and convincing themselves of, however long they’ve been dealing with the disease — with the disorder,” she explained.

Her resilience serves as a beacon for many facing similar challenges, highlighting society’s need for compassion and understanding.
