Eugene Levy's “Schitt's Creek” Costars Praise His 'Immense Talent' and 'Unwavering Dedication' at Walk of Fame Ceremony

Sarah Levy and Catherine O'Hara joined Eugene Levy on Friday as he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and they had nothing but good things to say about the legendary actor

Eugene Levy's Schitt's Creek family showed him an outpouring of love as he received a coveted star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

His former costar and real life daughter, Sarah Levy, and Catherine O'Hara joined him on Friday for the accolade and honored his onscreen legacy with heartfelt speeches. Following an extensive introduction of Eugene's storied career in Hollywood, Sarah, 37, took the stage and paid tribute to her father's achievements in both film and television.

"Thanks to my dad, I was lucky enough to grow up around the world of film and television," she said before joking, "It's what made me want to be an actor — dashing my parents' hopes and dreams of me having a steady job with a steady paycheck."

"One of the questions I get asked a lot is what's the best advice your dad's ever given you? He's given a lot of great advice over the years but there's one phrase that stuck with me that makes more and more sense as I get older: Put the blinders on," she continued, sharing how the phrase reminds one to "zero in on what your trying to accomplish" and let go of "anything that might not be serving you."

"My 14-year-old self would be rolling her eyes, my 37-year-old self stands here in awe of my dad and his accomplishments throughout his 50+ years career," she gushed. "I'm continuously amazed by his stamina, his attention to detail, his passion and his unwavering dedication to his craft. He takes such pride in ensuring that the final product is as good as it can possibly be and watching him work reminds me that even if perfection isn't possible it doesn't mean you should strive for it."

Sarah shared how she's been able to see Eugene's best qualities as an actor shine, not only as his daughter, but also as a colleague while working together on Schitt's Creek.

"Dad, we are all so incredibly proud of you and are so thrilled to be here today to watch you receive your star," said the actress, who played Twyla Sands on the hit sitcom. "You've proven that if you put the blinders on you can achieve anything you want and I can only hope to show [my son] James the very same thing when he grows up. We love you so much and we can't wait for people to walk all over you."

Catherine, 70, was next to honor her longtime costar with a tribute of her own.

Introducing him as "a gentleman in every sense of the word" and someone who "is slow to anger" and "slow to judge, the actress credited Eugene for helping jumpstart her career and claimed she owed him "big time."

"I'm so glad we are happily, happily recognizing him with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, though I suspect that Eugene would be just as happy stepping outside the limelight," she concluded. "Eugene, I'm sorry to say that your immense talent and unassuming lovability is just gonna make us want to continue to know you more and more."

"I love you, I'm so proud of you," added Catherine, who also starred alongside Eugene in SCTV and Christopher Guest's films, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, Waiting for Guffman and For Your Consideration.

Schitt's Creek premiered in 2015 on Canada's CBC Network and wrapped up its six-season run in April 2020. Eugene, 77, co-created the series with his son Dan Levy and both starred in the sitcom alongside Catherine and Annie Murphy.

The group portrayed the Rose family, a formerly affluent and out-of-touch family who lose all their money and are forced to in small town motel, the last property they own. Eugene played patriarch Johnny Rose, Catherine portrayed his wife Moira Rose, while Dan and Annie played their children David and Alexis Rose.

Along the way, they meet quirky townspeople played by Sarah, Emily Hampshire, Chris Elliot, Jennifer Robertson, Noah Reid, Dustin Milligan, and more.

The beloved sitcom went on to receive 19 Emmy Award nominations and nine wins. In 2020, Eugene won the award for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series alongside Catherine and Dan, who took home the win for outstanding supporting actor.

In August of the same year, the Second City Television alum was awarded the Newport Beach Film Festival's inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award.
