If you’re from out of town (or even a New Yorker who normally avoids the theatre district like the plague), securing coveted seats to blockbuster musicals, plays, and other live shows on Broadway can be confusing. But with a bit of planning, it’s more accessible than ever to buy Broadway tickets to some of the most successful shows — like Hamilton, Wicked, and Chicago, to name a few.

Tickets for these shows and the winners of last year’s Tony Awards, like Kimberly Akimbo, have already been on sale for months, but there are still ways you can buy Broadway tickets online. Tony wins from new shows and musicals like Shucked and Some Like It Hot that are currently on tour in the U.S. are also available to purchase online.

How to Buy Broadway Tickets
If you think you have to be in the Big Apple to order tickets physically, you don’t. There are still a couple of things to keep in mind when researching the availability and pricing for the shows you want to go to, so keep these in mind before showtime.
For a complete list of current and upcoming Broadway shows, we recommend checking out Broadway.org first, the Broadway League’s official online site for all the theatre information you’ll need. This will give you a good idea of which shows are open, a theatre district map, and details about the shows.
While it may seem old school, you can always call up ticket vendors on the phone like Telecharge and even Ticketmaster, if at the very least, to check show dates, times, and what price point different seats are going for. And if you crave an adrenaline rush, or if you’re only a few subway stops away, buying tickets in person from the theater’s box office lets you select the performance date and time you want to see, often without additional handling feels. That being said, most box offices are only open between 12 p.m. and curtain call for the show at the theatre, so it’ll be a bit of a mad dash.
What’s the Best Way to Buy Broadway Tickets Online?
There are a few primary online ticket vendors used by Broadway theaters, including Telecharge, Ticketmaster, StubHub, VividSeats and SeatGeek. You can also try TodayTix.com, which specializes in cheap Broadway tickets (BONUS: use code ROLLINGSTONE10 to save $10 off your purchase on the site).
In general, ticket prices will range anywhere from $20-$200+ dollars (although the higher end skews almost exclusively Hamilton), depending on where you’re sitting, performance dates, and times. Expect a premium for ticket prices on high-capacity days, like weekend evenings, and for seats in the floor and lower-level mezzanine sections.

You can always check online for discounted Broadway tickets, including group discounts, student discounts, standing-room discounts, and rush tickets, which most theaters frequently offer. However, in this case, you’ll probably have less wiggle room regarding dates, what time you can see the show, and what seat you end up in (probably the upper mezzanine, if we’re being honest).

The Who's TOMMY
Arriving on Broadway after its award-winning run in Chicago, The Who’s TOMMY is a rock opera unlike any other. Following the story of a “deaf, dumb, and blind kid” who becomes traumatized after a series of violent acts, he rises to fame as a pinball wizard and eventually… cult leader. It is a Broadway show that is worth getting your tickets for.
Kimberly Akimbo
Adapted by David Lindsay-Abaire from his own 2001 play, the 2023 Tony Award-winner for Best Musical centers on teenager Kimberly Levaco (played by the 63-year-old Victoria Clark) who has to navigate high school while suffering from an unnamed, “incredibly rare” genetic disorder that makes her age at an accelerated rate. Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club
An intimate and new production of Cabaret that’s set to premiere in April after its time in London follows Academy and Tony Award winner Eddie Redmayne and Gayle Rankin as they reprise the duo Emcee and Sally Bowles. It’s a night of artistry, performance, and misfits where “outsiders rule the night” in Berlin. So loosen up, relax, and be ready just to be yourself. The Wiz
It’s The Wizard of Oz like you’ve never seen it before, and it’s back! Directed by Schele Williams and musical score by Charlie Smalls, The Wiz is a soulful retelling of the original story, finding a young Dorothy whisked off to a dreamlike land. Get tickets for the next showing here.

Doubt: A Parable
John Patrick Shanley’s Tony Award-winning Best Play returns to Broadway, telling the story of Sister Aloysius, the principal of a Catholic school in the Bronx who suspects nefarious relations between the charismatic priest Father Flynn and a student. The Notebook: The Musical
Based on the 1996 novel by Nicholas Sparks and the 2004 romantic drama starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, the musical tells the classic story of Allie and Noah, both from different worlds, who share a lifetime of love despite the forces that threaten to pull them apart.
The musical features new music and lyrics by multi-platinum singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson, and is set to get an original cast album, will be released on Friday, April 19.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
If you’re a Harry Potter fan, then this is the show for you. The Book of Mormon
Winner of nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, The Book of Mormon follows a mismatched pair of Mormons sent on a mission to a place that’s about as far from Salt Lake City as you can get. Created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, five-time Emmy Award-winning creators of South Park, and Robert Lopez, two-time Academy Award winner for Best Original Songs from the musicals Frozen and Coco, it’s widely considered one of the most successful musicals of all time.

Days of Wine and Roses
Directed by Michael Greif and appearing on Broadway in 2024, Kelli O’Hara and Brian d’Arcy James star in a musical about the joys and hardships for a couple falling in love in 1950s New York. Adapted from JP Miller’s 1962 film and original 1958 teleplay, composer & lyricist Adam Guettel and playwright Craig Lucas reunite in their first collaboration since their acclaimed The Light in the Piazza. A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical
Created in collaboration with Neil Diamond, A Beautiful Noise is based on the true events of a kid from Brooklyn who became a show-stopping rock icon. Back to the Future

Hamilton
Inspired by the book Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow, Hamilton opened on Broadway in 2015, with music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, and has since gone on to win 11 Tony Awards and garner a special filmed version of the original cast performance, now streaming on Disney+. Six
Six is a pop musical modern retelling based on the lives (and deaths) of the eight wives of Henry VII, which was set to perform mere hours before the coronavirus theater shutdown in 2020. The musical is now on Broadway, and tickets are currently available here.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical

Aladdin
Based on Disney’s retelling of an Arabic folk tale, Aladdin the Musical chronicles the exciting story of a young man in love, a magic lamp, and a larger-than-life genie by his side. The adaptation opened on Broadway in 2014, and quickly became an audience favorite, thanks in part to the familiar faces of Genie, Aladdin, Princess Jasmine, Jafar, and Iago.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
That latest in a string of Sondheim revivals, the revival of the classic Sweeney Todd has returned in full swing with Aaron Tveit as the titular cannibal killer opposite Sutton Foster. Tickets to this one are a hot commodity due to the star power of its cast, so you’ll want to check availability here.

Chicago
There’s never a better time to see one of the longest-running American musicals in Broadway history — Ariana Madix, known for being on Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules has just extended her Broadway debut run through April 7. Chicago tickets (the jazz-era musical, not the band) are currently on sale, including weekends.

Hadestown
Based on the Greek myth of Orpheus (currently played by Jordan Fisher) and Eurydice (Isa Briones of Star Trek: Picard and Goosebumps) and king Hades and his wife Persephone (singer-songwriter Ani DiFranco, who sang the voice of Persephone on the concept album) take a journey to the underworld with tickets to this 2019 Tony Award-winning musical here.

Merrily We Roll Along
Now extending its run until July, you still have time to see Daniel Radcliffe, Jonathan Groff, and Lindsay Mendez star in this revival of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s Merrily We Roll Along. The musical charts the turbulent relationship between composer Franklin Shepard and his two lifelong friends — writer Mary and lyricist & playwright Charley. Tickets are available here.
Monty Python's Spamalot
“Lovingly ripped off” from the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, this revival of Spamalot has everything: flying cows, killer rabbits, British royalty, dancing girls, shrubbery, and of course, the lady of the lake. When Spamalot first galloped onto Broadway in 2005, it stunned and delighted audiences with its meta skewering of Broadway itself. The book and lyrics are by Monty Python cast member Eric Idle with music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle. Tickets are available here.
Water for Elephants
Why go to the circus when you can get tickets to see Water for Elephants? In this musical based on the novel by Sara Gruen, a now-veterinarian Jacob Jankowski reflects on his youth in the 1930s, as he hopped on a moving train and joined the remarkable, ragtag crew of the Benzini Brothers traveling circus.
The ensemble features seven dedicated circus performers, as well as two swings — several of the cast members are even veterans of the 7 Fingers circus company. You won’t want to miss this one. Tickets are available here.
