Laura Rutledge says her baby son Jack Alexander is on the mend.

The ESPN anchor, 35, shared an update on social media about the health status of her 7-month-old son after revealing that he suffered a health scare over the holiday season and had to receive treatment at the hospital.

In a Wednesday post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Rutledge thanked people for their prayers for her son and said she was “grateful for the miracle that occurred for him while also knowing so many of these stories don’t have happy endings.”

“We just received a positive report from Jack’s doctors at Connecticut Children’s. No additional surgery is required and his pain has lessened significantly,” she said.

“He has a long recovery ahead but they expect full healing! They praised the work of doctors in South Carolina. Thank you to everyone who has reached out,” she continued alongside a photo of baby Jack smiling atop a white blanket in what appeared to be a hospital room. “It sure is good to see this sweet smile again.”

While she did not go into details about what Jack’s condition was, she previously shared in a post on Christmas that the little boy had been “airlifted in a helicopter from Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC to MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital in Charleston” for treatment.

“Both hospitals were so kind and acted fast. Lauren, Eric and Justin with Airlink Novant Health treated our little guy like he was their own and offered reassurance at the scariest moments,” she wrote, adding that she and her husband Josh Rutledge were able to take home their baby after a “hospital visit” that day.

“Thank you to the strangers that stood by us today,” she added. “First responders are amazing.”

In June, reps for the NFL Live star confirmed to PEOPLE that she and her former MLB player husband had welcomed their second child after 3-year-old daughter Reese.

"We are so thankful to welcome a new addition to our family," the mom of two told PEOPLE at the time. "I never thought I’d even be able to have one child with the pressures of my career so to have two is beyond my wildest dreams."

"It’s so special to know that we are giving our daughter Reese a sibling, especially after going through a heartbreaking miscarriage in 2021," she added.
