It must be a day that ends in y, because Erika Jayne is causing controversy yet again. This time, it’s because the first trailer just came out for the Bravo documentary special about her Las Vegas residency, Bet It All On Blonde. However, the majority of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fans aren’t here for her big comeback. Naturally, the trailer was not exactly well-received. We’re breaking down all the reasons why this Erika Jayne: Bet It All On Blonde sneak peak is so infuriating.

Who Asked For This?

Overwhelmingly, the response to this trailer was…why? Frankly, most RHOBH fans don’t want Erika’s special. Sure, the singer still has loyal followers. And she’s still supported by a number of Bravolebrities, with her fellow Housewives attending the Vegas show.

But the average Bravo viewer’s feelings about Erika are still mixed to negative. So, it’s odd that she’s the one getting a movie-length special. Surely, there are many more interesting stories throughout the Bravosphere that deserve the documentary treatment.

Maybe the March 6th premiere will get super high ratings, and the naysayers will be proven wrong. Despite (or because of) cast controversies, RHOBH is one of the most watched Housewives series, so it’s not outside the realm of possibility. But for now, we’re not betting it all on this blonde to be a ratings sensation.

Adding to the “who asked for this?” response is that Erika’s Vegas residency was not a smash hit. It didn’t receive the most glowing reviews, or the biggest crowds. After all, attendance was so low that tickets reportedly went for as little as one dollar. Also, Erika was accused of lip-synching another singer’s track and passing it off as her own.

Maybe that will come out in the two-hour special. The trailer does feature her choreographer saying, “No one was killing it, including you.” But the sneak peek ends with a crowd chanting her name, which paints a very different picture than what we’ve heard for the past few months. Likewise, a description from Bravo calls the residency “show shopping.”

Erika’s Comments About Tom Girardi

One way the trailer is infuriating is how it weaves in the narrative of Tom Girardi‘s ongoing legal trouble. Of course, that’s to be expected. In 2023, Erika’s residency coincided with the court battles against Tom. But isn’t that an argument for why this special was a bad idea?

The Bet It All On Blonde trailer also offers an interesting contrast to another documentary featuring Erika. Recently, a trailer was released for the sequel to Hulu’s The Housewife and the Hustler. Subtitled “The Reckoning,” the follow-up surprisingly features Erika meeting with the victims. We’ll have to see if she gives a genuine apology. But when asked why she took so long to meet, Erika immediately got defensive.

To see Erika thrive and once again go over budget with the Vegas show, while the victims are still deeply feeling the repercussions of Tom’s actions is infuriating.

Erika Acts Like The Victim

Erika’s narcissistic tendencies were on full display in the Bet It All On Blonde trailer. At one point, she whines that “nothing is making me happy.” When bringing up Tom, she made sure to talk about how his actions hurt their family. Sure, that could be a fair point…if Erika had ever shown remorse for the many others that he hurt.

For RHOBH viewers, this was like a flashback to her comments declaring she was the ultimate victim. It’s hard to forget her outright admitting on camera that she only cares about herself. In the trailer, Tom’s actions are presented as a distraction for Erika to triumphantly overcome to perform her over budget show. That definitely leaves a bad taste in our mouths.

Why Does Erika Get A Redemption Arc?

Ultimately, fans can’t help but feel odd that Erika is getting a Bravo-sanctioned redemption arc when she’s yet to take accountability. This special comes after a season of RHOBH that has attempted to make fans love her again. For some, it’s worked. But Erika gets in the way of her own redemption by showing how little she’s changed.

For instance, the polarizing reality star seemingly cares more about a pair of earrings than about the actual victims. In fact, said earrings have come up yet again on recent episodes of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 13. At an emotional ceremony to spread Sutton Stracke‘s mentor Merce Cunnigham’s ashes, Erika demanded an apology from the other ladies. It was a sharp contrast from her co-stars, who all spoke about letting go of their grief or other major personal turmoil. She acts as if she’s been completely exonerated, and receiving this comeback special just supports that idea.

So, who benefits from betting it all on blonde? Certainly not Tom Girardi’s victims. Just Erika Jayne’s ego, whether viewers like it or not.
