Erie Ale Works hosting Festivus party at Basement Transmissions

The roots of Festivus go back to an episode of "Seinfeld," which ended its TV run in 1998. But Erie Ale Works continues to celebrate the "holiday" opposing commercialism.

When and where will the party occur?

Erie Ale Works will host its Festivus celebration Dec. 23, with doors opening at 5 p.m., at Basement Transmissions, 145 W. 11th St. There is a $5 cover at the door, organizers said.

What will take place?

The party will feature beer, cocktails, barbecue, music and more, including a Festivus Pole.

Beer will be available from Erie Ale Works, with Luminary Distilling offering themed cocktails and The Que Abides providing a food menu.

The schedule includes opening remarks by Erie Ale Works co-owner Jeff McCullor at 5:50 p.m. and performances by Cosmic Rhythm at 6, 8 and 9:10 p.m. Feats of strength and "Seinfeld" season 9 trivia are set for 7 p.m. The "airing of grievances" will take place at 7:30 p.m. Grievances, which will be shouted out to the whole room, can be submitted after the doors open or in advance at www.eriealeworks.com/the-latest/festivus.
