Eric Winter and Roselyn Sánchez are a dream team — both on- and off-camera.

Since meeting in 2005, The Rookie cast member and Fantasy Island star have grown together as partners and professionals in Hollywood. When they first crossed paths, Winter was appearing on Days of Our Lives as Rex Brady and Sánchez had just earned a nomination at the Latin Grammys.

Despite a slow start, sparks flew between them, and they got married in 2008 after a year-long engagement. Throughout their union, Winter and Sánchez have welcomed two children together: daughter Sebella in 2012 and son Dylan in 2017.

As for their careers, the couple cheered each other on while embarking on several projects. Winter landed roles on The Mentalist and Witches of East End before becoming a lead on one of ABC's procedural dramas, while Sánchez earned praise for her work on Devious Maids and Grand Hotel. They have also collaborated on several titles, including Hallmark Channel's A Taste of Summer.

While the pair stays busy, they still enjoy spending time together as a family. Speaking with Hallmark’s Home & Family in 2019, Sánchez praised Winter's parenting.

“He’s an amazing father,” she said. “As a woman, when you think about … being a mother at some point, you’re very blessed and very lucky if you find someone who is going to be an amazing dad."

Winter added that he loves his wife’s tenacity and go-getting attitude. “I admire her drive and commitment to anything she wants to do," he said. “She tells me all the time, ‘I want to do this, I have no idea how I’m going to do it, but I want to do this’ and she makes it happen. It’s a true inspiration to me.”

Winter and Sánchez first met at a party in Los Angeles in 2005, and three months later, he asked her out. The couple revealed to InStyle their first date was a sushi dinner, followed by a second date where the two went away for the weekend.

Fast forward to 2007, Winter proposed to Sánchez on a midnight kayak ride in Puerto Rico, where she was born.

"I was petrified she would drop the ring," he said of the engagement. "It never left the box. She accepted; I shut the box and told her she could see it again on land."

They married on Nov. 29, 2008, in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, at Castillo de San Cristóbal. Winter and Sánchez exchanged vows in front of 250 family and friends. The bride wore a gown embellished with pearls and crystals for the ceremony and had two outfit changes for the first dance and reception.

Winter and Sánchez welcomed their first child, daughter Sebella "Sebi" Rose Winter, on Jan. 4, 2012.

The new mom announced her arrival on X (formerly known as Twitter). “Welcome to the world beautiful Sebella Rose Winter! Mami and Daddy adore you! This joy is overwhelming. Thanks for all of the well wishes!” Sánchez wrote.

The pair expanded their family again with the addition of their son, Dylan Gabriel Winter, born on Nov. 3, 2017.

After many years of dreaming about you, you came into our lives in perfect condition! We are all so happy with your arrival,” Sánchez exclusively shared with People en Español to announce his birth. “Your sister Sebella Rose looks at you with indescribable tenderness. Thank you for choosing our family to start your life. We love you.”

Both of their kids were conceived via in vitro fertilization (IVF), which the former dancer spoke about openly.

In a September 2017 interview with PEOPLE, Sánchez shared that the process was “pretty intense and pretty brutal." She added that they lost Sebi's twin "very early on," and she went through more than six rounds of treatment before getting pregnant with Dylan at age 44.

“Thank God that we have human beings that dedicate their lives to be fertility doctors. They’re making miracles happen and they’re [helping] women like me who want to be moms so badly," Sánchez told PEOPLE. "I think it’s a wonderful thing.”

The pair made their debut as authors with the release of their children's book Sebi and the Land of Cha Cha Cha in 2017, about a little girl who wants to learn popular Latin dances. The bilingual project was inspired by Winter and Sánchez's desire to teach their daughter Sebi about her Puerto Rican heritage.

"As we were reading to our daughter, we realized books were all about ballet," Eric told PEOPLE in June 2017. "And we felt there was a need in the market — our daughter being half Puerto Rican — to talk about that heritage and the culture that she and my wife know so well."

The children's book is also accompanied by a virtual dance class readers can follow along on YouTube.

Winter and Sánchez's acting worlds collided when they starred opposite each other in the 2019 Hallmark movie A Taste of Summer. In it, she plays a chef who moves from New York City to a small New England town to open a restaurant. Meanwhile, he portrays a former baseball player and single father who owns a potential rival spot.

A little friendly competition turns to love, which Sánchez said felt true to their relationship in an interview with MediaVillage in 2019.

“In real life, it's just our personalities. We have game nights with our friends, and Eric is much more competitive than me when it comes to that kind of thing," she said. "So, we do get into crazy banter and fight over that, but only because he gets crazy out of control. It's always in fun.”

As for why it took them a decade to act together, Winter revealed that they had discussed the possibility and were waiting for the best opportunity.

“It had to be the right thing and something fun and cute that was a family affair, and that's what this was like," he added. "Our son and daughter could join us, so they were on set and able to be a part of the experience.”

Afterward, Sánchez appeared on an episode of The Rookie in 2020 and Winter starred on Fantasy Island in 2021. Most recently, Deadline reported that a comedy series starring the husband and wife duo, El Patio, was in the works at Fox in 2023.

Their podcast, He Said, Ella Dijo, launched in 2019 and gives fans a glimpse into their relationship — and frequently opposing viewpoints.

“Roselyn Sánchez is quirky, fiery and sassy. She met her match with straight-laced, type A, perfectionist actor Eric Winter,” reads the official show description, per iHeart. "Aries and Cancer do not make the perfect match, but they are fighting the signs and have been together for 15 years.”

Speaking with PEOPLE in December 2022, the Rush Hour 2 actress opened up about their marriage.

"We're like opposites and ... nobody understands how we — with now 17 years together, two kids later — people always go, 'How the heck do you guys make it work? Because you guys disagree on everything,' " she explained. "But it's funny, you know? We do it with respect, we do it with honesty."

According to her, hosting the podcast is “almost like a therapy session" as they continue learning life lessons about parenting while having "a laugh doing it."
