Eric Vespe Joins Rooster Teeth After Leaving Ain’t It Cool News
Eric Vespe, the former Ain’t It Cool News reporter who quit the site last month, is joining Rooster Teeth as a senior writer for The Know “geek news” channel.
Vespe, known as “Quint” on Ain’t It Cool News, left the website after 20 years following the emergence of sexual-assault allegations against founder Harry Knowles. Knowles has denied the allegations.
For Rooster Teeth’s The Know, Vespe will be responsible for original reporting, interviews, and developing new shows around entertainment. His hire will expand entertainment coverage for The Know, which has placed an emphasis on video games, along with reports on movies, TV, consumer tech, and science.
“I’ve been a fan of Eric’s work for years and I’m beyond excited to have the opportunity to work with him to revolutionize the way we report on movies and entertainment,” said Ashley Jenkins, executive producer and creator of The Know.
Vespe was 16 when he joined Ain’t It Cool News, and under the nom-de-net of Quint became a cornerstone personality of one of the internet’s very first movie-news sites. His work as a critic, interviewer and feature writer has also appeared in Slashfilm, Collider and Popular Mechanics. Vespe also lays claim to being the world’s most vocal defender of “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.”
The Know’s shows are available on Rooster Teeth’s subscription-video service, First, and are subsequently distributed on The Know’s YouTube channel. Founded in 2003, Rooster Teeth is now a subsidiary of Fullscreen Media, which is owned by AT&T/Chernin Group’s Otter Media.
