ABC Orders ‘The Toy Box’ Competition Series Hosted By Eric Stonestreet

ABC has teamed with Mattel Creations for The Toy Box, a new competition reality series set to premiere in the 2016-17 season, with Modern Family‘s Eric Stonestreet as host.

Co-developed with Hudsun Media and Electus, the series will feature the toy invention process in a high-stakes competition format with the ultimate judges, a panel of no-nonsense, toy-loving kids. Hosted by Stonestreet, the toys and their inventors are put through a series of trials and tests. Electus will be selling the finished series as well as the format at MIPCOM.

Each episode of The Toy Box will feature expert toy inventors from around the world as they compete for the opportunity to present their creations in the season finale. The winner will get the opportunity to bring their creation to market, with marketing, design and manufacturing support from Mattel. The winning toy design will be available for purchase at retail as the season finale airs.

The Toy Box is a unique and broadly appealing take on the popular competition-style television format, and we believe it will capture the imagination of viewers of all ages,” said Rob Mills, SVP Alternative Series, Specials & Late Night of ABC.

Added Chris Grant, CEO of Electus, “With its mix of competitiveness, entrepreneurialism and fun, The Toy Box is sure to delight and excite kids, parents and anyone who loves to play.”
