Entertainment Exec Chris McGurk Finally Sells Malibu Home (EXCLUSIVE)

After more than five years on and off the market, with asking prices that soared as unrealistically high as $12.5 million, veteran entertainment-industry powerbroker Chris McGurk has sold a flamboyantly contemporary beachfront home in Malibu for a smidgen under $6.95 million. The sale price was well below the last asking price of $7.95 million, and just a wee bit above the $6.67 million he paid for the circa-1983 Marshall Lewis-designed beach house in June 2004. Listing details show the not-quite-5,700-square-foot residence in a small, gated enclave along El Matador State Beach (with about 65-feet of prime beach frontage), has a total of six bedrooms and seven bathrooms over three floors.

At least two of the guest bedrooms are en suite, as is the roomy, ocean-view master suite that also has a fireplace set between glass sliders that lead to a private terrace with sweeping coastline views. The dining room, which overlooks a large living room with a voluminous vaulted ceiling and a stainless-steel-faced fireplace, has a raised fireplace set into a black brick wall, and a massive picture window that provides a cinematic, head-on ocean view. Sprawling recreation and entertainment spaces on the lowest floor include a media lounge that opens to a vast covered veranda and — a rare feature in an oceanfront home in Malibu — an indoor swimming pool equipped with swim jets, a spa, a sauna, and a steam shower.

Earlier this year, McGurk sold a dated but dignified Tudor-style mansion just around the corner from the Beverly Hills Hotel in an off-market deal for $16.5 million.
