Entertainment escape: From comedy to rock to pop, Mount Airy offers 'eclectic' live lineup

Jul. 5—A resort in the Poconos boasts a stacked schedule with "something for everyone" for the 2023 entertainment season.

Mount Airy Casino Resort, 312 Woodland Road, Mount Pocono, is known for its gaming experience with slot machines, table games and multimedia, luxury sports betting lounge, Sports Book, but don't forgot about the venue's live entertainment.

Mount Airy, which hosts a variety of comedy shows, concerts and events throughout the year, recently added a couple more.

"At Mount Airy Casino Resort, we pride ourselves on our stellar entertainment offerings," said Ben Koff, Mount Airy general manager and chief operating officer. "You could say we'll be offering something for everyone with the diverse and eclectic lineup we have in store."

Here's a list of all the upcoming events happening at Mount Airy for a quick escape to the Poconos.

Vic DiBitetto

When: Saturday, July 8, 8 p.m.

Tickets: $45/$35

DiBitetto had been making funny YouTube videos for years before "Bread and Milk," a skit about the February 2013 nor'easter, went viral that year. His comedy career took off from there with actor Kevin James writing a role for "Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2" the character Gino Chizetti, based on Tony Gaga, a recurring character in Dibitetto's videos. He's been doing standup all over the country and will bring his "blue collar comedy in a red sauce" to Northeast Pennsylvania.

Dave Attell

When: Saturday, July 22, 8 p.m.

Tickets: $45/$50

A stand-up comedian, actor and writer, Attell is best known as the host of Comedy Central's "Insomniac With Dave Attell," earning him a cult following. In addition to his own series on Showtime, he appeared in comedies including Hulu's "Life & Beth" with Amy Schumer, Netflix's "Bumping Mics" with Jeff Ross and HBO's "Crashing" with Pete Holmes. With numerous standup specials under his belt, Attell's show at Mount Airy promises, his signature crowd work, quick setups and striking punchlines.

En Vogue

When: Saturday, August 5, 8 p.m.

Tickets: $55 / $65

The legendary girl group, known for their hits "Free Your Mind," "Never Gonna Get It" and collaboration with Salt N Pepa "Whatta Man," will present a show stopping performance on the Mount Airy stage. Now as a trio, comprised of original members Terry Ellis and Cindy Herron-Braggs with Rhona Bennett, audiences can expect the same powerhouse vocals, layered harmonies and dose of girl power from En Vogue.

Sheena Easton

When: Saturday, Aug. 26, 8 p.m.

Tickets: $35 / $45

Grammy Award-winning artist Sheena Easton has sold over 20 million records worldwide and is known for her hits such as "9 to 5 (Morning Train)," "For Your Eyes Only," "Sugar Walls," "U Got the Look" and "We've Got Tonight" with Kenny Rogers.

Easton also has expanded her love of the stage, performing as a guest vocalist in various programs with symphonies across the nation, allowing her to showcase her styles from American standards, pop and Broadway. Easton will take the Mount Pocono stage to perform a mix of fan favorites and some surprises in her distinct vocal style.

The Amish Outlaws

When: Saturday, Sept. 16, 8 p.m.

Tickets: $20

Four out of the original six members of the band, The Amish Outlaws, were born and raised in Lancaster under a strict Amish upbringing, which included no electricity, alcohol or musical instruments. Set out on "Rumspringa," into the secular world, there was no turning back.

The Amish Outlaws play a little bit of every genre of music from hip-hop, rock, country, metal, disco and even opera and promise a show with all the passion and fire that only 16 years of repression can bring.

John Waite

When: Friday, Oct. 20, 8 p.m.

Tickets: $35/$45

In addition to being bassist and lead vocalist for the Babys and a part of supergroup Bad English, John Waite struck out on his own solo career releasing songs including 1984's hit "Missing You."

In between some acting gigs and touring all over the world with his own bands and even Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band, Waite still gives his all when performing for crowds. The England-born rock star takes inspiration from blues, soul and country as well as the Celtic folk music of his homeland. Fans will get to witness Waite perform with the no-holds-barred rock n' roll he's known for at the Mount Pocono venue.

Thunder From Down Under

When: Fridays, Dec. 1 and 2, 8 p.m.

Tickets: $25/$35 (Tickets go on sale July 5)

Move over, Magic Mike.

Australia's Thunder From Down Under, an all-male revue named "Best Male Strip Show" by the Las Vegas Review Journal, brings its show to Mount Airy. The internationally acclaimed show that has been tantalizing fans on the Las Vegas Strip for the past 20 years.

Its complex dance routines, gymnastics, break dancing, colorful costumes and hot guys all make for a fun, unique experience for a night out.
