Enigmatic R&B Newcomer Teflon Sega Returns With Nebulous New Single ‘Deleted Conversations’: Exclusive Premiere

Meet Teflon Sega. The enigmatic R&B newcomer first arrived last year by way of his haunting single “Sinner,” anchored on reverb-soaked vocals and cosmic synths, and quickly capturing the attention of taste makers everywhere, even earning spins from BBC Radio 1Xtra. He then quickly one-upped the early hype with a striking collaboration with Brooklyn emcee SAINt JHN titled “Beretta Lake,” co-produced by Waju and F A L L E N, which has netted over 3.6 million streams on Spotify.

Kicking 2017 off with a bang, the fast rising talent returns today with the release of his nebulous new single “Deleted Conversations,” premiering exclusively via Billboard.

A personal reflection of a modern day love affair, the track laments the current state of romance in the 21st century, often disguised by cell phones and miscommunication, as he sings “I’m feeling loose, sippin’ on that goose, thinkin’ about you,” before reflecting “deleted conversations, they cover up our traces, deleted conversations, avoiding confrontation.”

“I was stressed when I wrote this song,” Teflon tells Billboard of the single’s origins. “The situation was tense and this girl had me chasing her all over and trying to figure her out. That’s why it’s funny to me that the song turned out sounding carefree and breezy. Maybe hashing out the situation in my head over Waju’s summery beat was my therapy.”
