As he and host Kyle Meredith chat about the difference between the ’80s and the modern day, touching on playing with Vampire Weekend at The Hollywood Bowl and his new material along the way, the conversation turns towards the state of the live music industry. When it comes to high ticket prices, Wakeling is just as confused as everyone else.
“I don’t know how they get away with it. I don’t know how the fans don’t feel aggrieved, really. I’ve always been the other way. I kept ticket prices low,” he explains. “We’ve never really gouged. And I see the price of tickets, and I’m like, ‘Nobody’s gonna buy that… Oh, it’s sold out!'”
