Engagement: Katherine Johnson and George Shepherd, both of New York, will marry

Mr. and Mrs. David Collins Johnson of New York and Watch Hill, Rhode Island announce the engagement of their daughter, Katherine Ann, of New York, to George H. Shepherd, also of New York.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Mrs. Gerald J. Johnson II (Elizabeth Taft) of Watch Hill and Palm Beach.

She is a third-generation alumna of both the Spence School and Wellesley College.

She was presented to society at private debutante balls in New York and London, the Piarist Ball, and the Viennese Opera Ball of New York, where she currently serves on the junior committee.

A direct descendant of Lion Gardiner, Pilgrim Edward Fuller, and colonial governor John Winthrop, she is a member of the Colonial Dames of America, St. Andrew’s Society of New York, the New York Junior League; and the Doubles, Misquamicut and Watch Hill Yacht clubs.

The future bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Daniel Shepherd of New York.

He is a graduate of St. George’s School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a member of the New England Society, the North Carolina Society, the St. Nicholas Society, and the Usher Guild at St. Thomas Church in New York.

The couple met on the junior committee of the Mayflower Society Ball.

A June 2025 wedding is planned in Watch Hill.
