Women Get the Job Done

The Pirates Of the Caribbean movie franchise may get a female lead to help carry out the series, and it's now been revealed who that could be.

Karen Gillan May Play Redd

Karen Gillan, who's taken part in the "Avengers" movies and the "Jumanji" series, is reportedly going to play Redd, a character that Disney added to its theme parks last year.

Jack Sparrow, Barbossa and Davy Jones have all been included in its theme parks, so it would make sense that Redd would follow suit in the movies.

One Too Many Blockbusters?

But is this too much franchise for one person? It's difficult to say.

Gillan joined the Jumanji family in 2017, and plays Nebula in Avengers: Endgame. She apparently will take on a bigger-than-normal role in Jumanji: The Next Level, which hits theaters in December.

And when James Gunn's Guardians Of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 arrives in 2022 it may feature goodbyes for many characters, including Gillan's.

It's a lot to handle production-wise and time-wise.

They're Attached To Jack

And it sounds like some fans are not interested in a new Pirates Of the Caribbean unless Johnny Depp is there as Jack Sparrow.

"Johnny Depp IS Pirates of the Caribbean!! I will NOT support any remake or reboot of a Pirates movie without him!! Disney is absolutely WRONG in this decision," says @Chris_Wedmore.

Too Little Too Late?

It also seems as if Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow, whether fans like it or not, may have already exited Pirates Of the Caribbean, given the fact that the franchise has been slowly taking on water since its inception. The series needs some fresh blood, and Gillan may be the one to deliver it.
