NEW YORK (PIX11) – “The Perfect Date” is just weeks away, and the Empire State Building is celebrating with a screening of “Miss Congeniality.”

If you don’t understand the pop-culture reference, we’ll explain: “Miss Congeniality Day,” also known as “The Perfect Date,” is a reference to the 2000 hit comedy film starring Sandra Bullock.

Bullock plays FBI Agent Gracie Hart, who infiltrates a beauty pageant to save the event and its attendees from an act of terrorism. During the pageant, host Stanley Fields (William Shatner) asks Miss Rhode Island (Heather Burns) to “Describe your perfect date.”

Miss Rhode Island responds: “That’s a tough one. I’d have to say April 25th. Because it’s not too hot and not too cold. All you need is a light jacket.”

And “The Perfect Date” meme was born.

The screening at the Empire State Building on April 25 begins at 8:15 p.m. Tickets come with complimentary non-alcoholic drinks and snacks. Moviegoers will also have access to the Empire State Building observation deck and the 102nd floor following the movie.

Tickets for the screening of “Miss Congeniality” are on sale and can be purchased here.
