‘Empire’ Star Gabourey Sidibe Was a Phone Sex Operator and Loved It
On The Talk, Gabourey Sidibe chatted about the unusual job she had before her breakout role in Precious. In her book, This Is Just My Face: Try Not to Stare, the actress revealed that she was a phone sex operator. When asked about it on The Talk, Sidibe responded, “I loved it! You think, ‘Oh, it’s phone sex.’ You think it’s like a bunch of girls chained to a radiator in the basement. This was a real company. There was an HR department. I got promoted to receptionist.”
She explained that she actually learned some important skills from the job, including how to be very good at listening. Sidibe admitted that she accidentally slips into her sexy voice during everyday moments, like when ordering food.
