The stars were prepped and ready to shine at tonight’s 71st Primetime Emmy Awards. But before they stepped inside the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles, they put their best feet forward for the cameras on the carpet — which this year was purple instead of red.
As usual, E! and People streamed the fashion action live, filling us in on the most popular trends and standout looks. This year’s trends included plunging necklines, bright colors, shimmering fabrics and lots of skin to beat the searing heat.

Among the notable names strolling down the carpet were Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke, Billy Porter of Pose (making a bold statement in a futuristic black hat), Killing Eve actress Sandra Oh, and Niecy Nash of When They See Us.
